Very touristy place. Extremely busy. Hotels and shops all promote this place so they must be paying commissions to them. More expensive than restaurants in the area. Bill for four came out to be 110 euros. The most expensive place we had been in the area. Similar meals can be had for half as much.

The food was simply amazing. Excellent service, too. I lucked out. I happened to go in the night that another fifty ladies from Cyprus went there to have dinner. They were in Athens, on a company sales retreat. Since there was live bouzouki playing (and the singer was so good at also playing the mandolin!), it took no time at... More

Mnissikleous Street is very cozy. It is a "hill" with steps adorned by tables and chairs for different restaurants. We chose to be in Geros Tou Moria for several reasons: 1) a local recommended it; 2) it is somewhat higher so you can see what is going on in the whole street; 3) they have Greek music show; 4) there... We came back everyday for three days straight -the owners welcomed us with opened arms and free coffee and ouzo - very family like atmosphere and excellent, excellent food. I am addicted to their fresh bread. Try the greek coffee and fresh OJ - best I have ever had. Their moussaka was just heavenly, all kinds of seafood dishes as... More

The food was excellent, the service exceptional and the atmosphere quintessentially Greek. The staff made our kids very welcome. It was a perfect way to spend our final big meal in Greece!

Excellent food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. I've stayed one month in Greece, and during this time I chose this restaurant very often.

Excellent baked mushroom dish. The eggplant, tomato, cheese serving was similar to the Cretan darkos with the toast replaced with eggplant. And the mousakka was excellent. Recommended.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
