Localized in a touristic place - I ate a decent cod fish with a very fresh and tasty salad - price a little bit high related to the service - Not cheap for the average portuguese family dinner

I dined here with two other hungry pilgrims en-route to Santiago de Compostela. We were all on a budget and the menu did not offer many economical options (ie: pilgrim menus), or so we thought. We informed our waiter what we would like to eat and what out budget was and he suggested the bachalau with potatoes in a rich... More

This is a tourist trap. Overpriced food. Our meal was heated from what it seemed to have been cooked at lunch hour. Due to the manager behaviour employees were not too friendly and actually seemed sad/ bothered. We will never get back here. It was the worst meal in out entire 2 weeks vacation.

Localized in a touristic place, you wouldn't expect too much from it, but the fact is that we ate the best cod fish in a long time, escourted with a very fresh and tasty salad! Definitely a must go again in the next visit to Valença! Appetizers, main course, wine and dessert...25€/person! Not cheap for the average portuguese family dinner,... More

We ordered the bacalau, pork & veal. Both the fish and pork were very good but the veal was ordinary. For a change, the meat dishes came with potatoes slow roasted with the meat and they were very tasty. The fish dish was huge. The semi frio was not a semi frio as I know it but more a layer... More

On a hot day, air-con comes into its own. It helps if the food's good too, tho' not particularly Portuguese. Steak with Roquefort sauce and veal with a cream sauce were excellent, but even a 1/2 portion was enormous. Prices are comparatively cheap, and the service was polite and helpful. The free digestif was welcome too.

In a sunday lunch, I have ordered lamprey as and my wife "Bacalhau à Bras". The lamprey was not enough cooked and the codfish was tasteless and due the spines we could see that it was not codfish. After a couple of hours my wife was sick and vomited, despite the fact she hasn't eat anything else, it should be... More

All restaurants in Valença have waiters outside inviting people to come in. Fortaleza did not, and yet had no free tables, so this was why we chose it. If it does not need to draw people in it’s because it must be good. Although the house specialties were bacalhau and shellfish rice, we ordered the Rojões á Minhota, a typical... More

After travelling for two weeks in Spain, it was a treat to cross over into Portugal and get a meal that included vegetables. A nice mixed salad and good cod and kid dishes. Sat outside opposite the town walls.
