First time ever i felt so badly deceived by a restaurant. A very dissapointing experience for someone that respects good food and is willing to pay the extra penny for it. We paid 49 euro pp (set menu) to eat cold starters, tasteless fish, meat full of fat, dishes totally lacking inspiration and seasoning! Wine was good but also ridiculously... More

So, it's Christmas Night and we found out that almost 95% of Porto shuts down from Christmas Eve until the day after Christmas... :( Not having many options to choose from we decided to make a reservation at Forno Velho. We did not regret it!!! The space is minimalistic giving you the opportunity to really pay attention to your food!... More

We were disappointed here. The menu was enticing and the hotel in which the restaurant is situated is lovely. The food was unexciting however. I started with tempura octopus, which was crisp, but lacked flavour. My black pork main dish was nice enough but the smear of vivid green vegetable puree had a strange, almost bitter taste. My wife had... More

We both had 2 different dishes of octopus and both of them were amazing. Really good service and atmosphere! Definitely worth another visit.

I always ask for advice in popular dishes, avoids disappointment. As a started I was recommended the October Tempura which was to my taste the best dish I had since my being born. This was a nice portion. The magret was well cooked and the sides were excellent. The olive bread was to die for, fresh, lukewarm. The amuse gueule... More

On our way back to our Hotel on the the river we stopped to read a menu board, liked what we saw, and decided to check out the restaurant. We were promptly greeted and seated at a nice table. We ordered a cheese sampler (not on the menu) and were quite pleased with the four types of cheese. The menu... More

Lovely atmosphere, the place is in a secluded alley behind the hotel and is nice and secluded. Decor is modern but relaxed. Service was good. Amuse bouche was ok, starters for both of us was the scallops. Although nice and tender, if not a little under done, I didn't feel these were anything to write home about. Mains: I had... More

The location of the restaurant is great with in old big thick walls a nice place to be. But the food was not as expected. I had a vegetarian Linguini dish which was totally tasteless and I couldn't eat it but the good thing they did not charge me for the dish. A nice gesture though
