This is a restaurant my wife and I have been visiting almost every year since our honeymoon back in 1988, one of our favourites. The greeting is friendly, the service excellent with a good bit of humour. Choosing my favourite Madeira meal Scabbard Fish (Espada) with fried banana My wife had the other Madeiran staple Espatada, this is a typical... More

Couldn't fault the food and service we received on both occasions we visited this restaurant. Good choice of menu and reasonably priced. Staff friendly. They have their own staircase access from the road opposite the Melia hotel entance but it is still a steep climb but well worth the effort.

What more can I say, problem is I have to write something! Not the worst food at all and mine was nicer than my wife's! But it was just average, nothing special!

Visited on second night after Restaurant Chancellor across the road first night. Tourist menus both times. At 2 euros dearer, thought this might have been better, but very similar if not worse. Overcooked fish, vastly overboiled vegetables. Not a star choice!

Dined here on our first night in Madeira. In hotel zone and convenient. Sat on open veranda although a little cool. Friendly welcome with a complimentary glass of Madeira. We both ordered Espetada, one chicken, one mixed meats. Both were served with chips and salad. Plenty of meat on the skewers, the chicken was thigh meat and still on the... More

We have been visiting Funchal for 6 years and visit Summertime each time we are there. It is a very friendly family business serving excellent food and wine. The menu is varied and very affordable. We are made very welcome each time we visit like part of the family.last year I celebrated my birthday there and was thoroughly spoilt by... More

Visited here two consecutive nights this week. Sergio and Claudio were very efficient and pleasant waiters. Chose food from main menu as we weren't aware of the tourist menu. However we were very pleased with food for the price and were offered complimentary Madeira as an aperitif and a poncha shot at the end of the meal so a good... More
