It is a small cosy place with aprox 10 tables. Every 30 minutes 2 guitar players play the music and one of the the waitresses joined song the fado’s. Also a man song fado”s. Not very special but a nice entertainment for an evening. The...food is neither special, but you come for the atmosphere. It seems to be a family run restaurant and singers. It is may-be better to come here for an evening drink and join the fado. We were charged eu10 for the music, in addition to the food.More

Visited Sabor a Fado on our last night in Madeira (a week earlier than planned due to Jet2 cancelling flights) and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience from being seated through a delicious meal and Fado music throughout the evening. The whole family took it in...turns to sing a number of sets during the evening from the Mum through to a 6 year girl who was brilliant. We had the sizzling dishes with a selection of seafood and steak with I can fully recommend, and to have the family singing whilst serving and then to the whole restaurant was amazing. Every visit to Madeira should include a visit here!More

We went into this restaurant and bar early evening, told them we only wanted a drink, stayed half an hour. Two guys started playing guitars then young lady sang two songs, followed by another.Whilst we sat and drunk they brought breaded canapés to the table which we...did not order. When we got the bill they charged us 15 Euro for the music and 6 Euro for the food with are drinks the bill was 36 Euro. We only ordered two glasses of wine and one beer.We later were talking to a couple who experienced the same at Sabor a Fado'sMore

After a brilliant day of chilling in Funchal we wanted a relaxed evening. So we were persuaded to dine and enjoy Sabor in the old town. A Beautiful 30 seater restaurant that offers thd most amazing mussels, stunning white wine and live fado..sung expertly by...the matriarch. If you want a genuine evening of what it means to be maderian....head here. A warm welcome and superb food and wine...with the most amazing of traditional Portuguese entertainment. I found this place gave agenuine feel for an authentic Funchal cuisine, run by a beautiful family of great service, smiles and significantly badass singing skills. Was a lovely evening meal, highly recommend steak on the stone. House wine is stunning, the starters delicious (bread...and dips starter and chorizo). They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, and we were thrilled that they moved their evening entertainment outside to accommodate a hot autumn evening. Brilliant singers, highly skilled chef and wonderful hosts. Would highly recommend a visit, good all round food, entertainment and hosting.More

We were two out of only four guests at the Sabor - the numbers sadly diminished as a result of Covid and reduced tourists in Funchal. However the service and singing was undiminished. We had a fabulous evening - really good food - excellent fish...risotto. Superb singing from the family and from little Maria. We have been here previously - and if anything this was even better than our first time. Due to the more intimate nature of the experience we were able to have a great conversation with the family about Fado, Madeira and its response to the pandemic. We will be back and wont hesitate to go to the Sabor!More

Spent two charming evenings here in delightful company of this musical family - everyone sang including the young niece and the chef, and the other two guests. Sylvie waited the tables and sang as she did - it was like being in an opera or...a musical! The food was excellent - but that was of secondary importance compared to the experience. I was worried that a second visit during the week would detract from the experience but it only augmented it. I loved the canyonning, the levadas, the scenery and the high peaks, but I would put this place top of my list for reasons to return to Madeira.More

Went there a couple of years ago. Live entertainment from a group of Fado singers and instrumentalists. The food was also good, but the main point is to listen to and enjoy the music. One group clearly entered under a misapprehension. They complained to the...staff about the noise from the music! When they were told that the singers would not turn down the volume they left. I laughed.More

Another fabulous evening at Sabor a Fado. Great atmosphere, food and service with Fado included. An experience not to be missed whilst in Funchal. Many thanks to Sylvia and family and a special thanks to Sophia Ferreira.

Yes they do. They used to be closed on wednesday but no longer do. They sing every night, from 7 PM but I would book a table for 8pm or even 8.30. I do recommend to book in advance, as it is a small but busy place. Having... More
