We found this restaurant by chance on almost our last night in Madeira. Can’t recommend it enough! We had a (large!) selection of starters. All were very good. Particular favourites were the tuna tartare and fish tacos. The bread delicious and fresh served with seaweed...butter. We shared a main course of braised tuna. All served expertly by a young, fun and energetic staff. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Madeira.More

A lovely dinner here tonight, some exciting and different choice combinations, as standard as Oysters naturel to cod fish tacos to start, followed by sublimely soft veal cheeks and a duck leg with a chestnut and sweet potato ragu, desserts divine, lovely staff a great...night thanks !!More

This restaurant has great food, period. Was wonderful last year, and still maintains that after is horrible pandemic, too. You need a reservation....do not show up at 2030 on a Friday, and become angry when every single table is full, the small bar area as...well. The staff (even if some faces change) have always been fun, helpful and informative here, and that hasn't changed at all, it seems. Simply a great place to eat delectable, fresh food, with a welcoming Madeiran staff. We look forward to trying the more meat-centric sister-restaurant, later, as well. Hi, Daisy!!!More

Hard, indeed impossible to fault. It is of a similar size and feel as the ORIGINAL Kampo, only with an emphasis on fish, rather than meat. Everything we tried was perfect. We sat at the chef’s table (best place as the bistro is a little...cramped/busy), and we were fascinated watching the many staff go about their business in a highly organised manner. Bread was exceptional, as was Tuna tartare served in cones, Some filleted small sardines in a chef’s dressing, equally good; two ginormous grilled “prawns” and grilled fish of the day in a delicate curry style sauce. All were great as was the Argila wine, and with beers a total of c€85 for two. Excellent value. The staff to customer ratio was high; consequently service was also faultless. The ubiquitous music was of a buddha bar lounge type of sound not intrusive and only added to the pleasing atmosphere.More

During our stay in Madeira, there is only one restaurant that we kept coming back to regularly, and that was Akua by Chef Julio Pereira. The staff are warm and friendly, ushering us to our table where we receive their addictive freshly baked sourdough bread....On our most recent visit, we selected our seafood starters of oysters, goose barnacles, small clams, and fresh shrimp. Each one cooked to perfection. Chef Julio kindly demonstrated how to eat the goose barnacles as this was our first time trying them. I now know what all the fuss is about! We followed this with a seafood risotto with giant red shrimp that seduced our taste buds into promising to return soon.More

Well after two visits to Kampo, we were recommended to visit it's younger sibling Akua. It will definitely not dissapoint! If you're a fish lover then you'll love their menu. Wide range of options and there's also some meat options to choose from. Same concept...as Kampo and also very high standards as for it's older brother. The quality is just superb such wonderful combinations of products in one plate. The staff were very friendly and helpful when choosing from the menu. We just love sitting at the chef's table, it just elevates your experience even more! We'll be back :)More

Easily the best restaurant in the whole island and beyond. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the food is, needless to say, amazing. We had almost every starter they offered plus a main course (black squid pasta) and a great white chocolate dessert...(unforgettable). They also have a wide range of Portuguese wines and prices are more than fair, considering the high level. Overall great experience, just go.More
