I had a brunch with some friends on our way to the castle. Food was fine but not amazing. We waited a lot for our dishes to arrive but at the end the waiter offered us drinks to apologize for the delay and she was very nice. There is a friendly atmosphere and good soft music inside.

Lovely, cozy place for an afternoon tea and snack. Scones are very good and the service is fast. Nicely decorated and welcoming staff

Saudade is located about a block from the train station in Sintra. We stopped in immediately after our arrival from Lisbon for a late breakfast/early lunch. We had coffee, tea and orange juice with two paninis, one a ham and cheese and the other vegetarian. We also had a Portuguese pastry and a slice of chocolate cheesecake. Our food and... More

During my visit to Sintra, I stopped at the Saudade Coffee shop, and had the best coffee and service you can expect! The Cuban waiter that serves there goes out of the way to please you and serve you in a gracious manner. What a nice surprise that in such a wonderful place you can have the best service that... A 3 minute walk from the train - don't miss this place before conquering Sintra. We ordered the "Urban" for breakfast - the parfait is fresh and the scone is heavenly. Keep in mind, it's a hearty breakfast but once you begin to tackle Sintra, you may find it difficult to stop and eat. Yunieski (the Cuban waiter) was beyond... More

A somewhat small but quirky cafe offering good food at reasonable prices. Service was good. We had lunch there and ended up talking to the locals who were eating there.

This traditional and pretty little cafe is in a great location. It is right next to the railway station. The staff speak excellent English (no doubt Portuguese too - lol). As an English language speaker with little command of Portuguese - this was helpful. Ordering was easy and I was there for coffees and cakes which was also great value... More

Where Cafe Saudade now stands, there used to be housed the historical Queijadas da Mathilde cheesecake factory from 1888 to 1974.These queijadas de Sintra (cheesecakes) were a favorite of King Ferdinand II (who restored the Pena Palace). During the 3rd quarter of the 19th century, the king gave the factory founder a stamp marked Mathilde, to brand the cheesecakes bound for the royal family. The Cafe Saudade was restored and preserved over a year long renovation in 2008 and opened in the summer of 2009. Recycled and regional materials and resources were used to create an environment that authentic. We pride ourselves for this and and for the fact that our team offers the best service they can.The spaces of the old cheesecake factory are today a cultural reference in Sintra's recent historical background. Its preservation allows us a glimpse into the ancient manufacturing process of the typical queijada de Sintra.Wander through the "Saudade Labyrinth" and fall in love with Sintra. Visit our Art Gallery and explore the various rooms with pieces of furniture that we restored with love and care, and in which we have handcrafts for sale. We host literary gatherings, jazz and fado concerts and other cultural activities.
