Best meal we had in Sintra. Authentic surroundings and enjoyable Portuguese food. Best wine we had on our week in Portugal. Welcoming staff and good service. Recommend.

We’ve been all over Portugal and this is the best meal we’ve had. Fantastic Beef Wellington - best I’ve ever had. Service is excellent, you won’t be disappointed. You should also check out the inside of the restaurant.. very cool place.
My wife and I had dinner at Tacho Real this evening. We made last minute plans for dinner. The place was really quiet this evening so we got a lot of attention. That was great because we needed gluten free food options and so forth....The folks working here were really helpful too. The house wine was surprisingly decent. For an appetizer, we have the prawns, which were prepared very nicely. I had the fried cod prepared Tacho Real and it was very nice. The potatoes with the spinach-like greens, cod and carmelized onions were a really nice combination. The fish was prepared really well. My wife had the seabass and it was also really good. Overall great experience.More
Stopped for a snack and left with a memory. This place is off the beaten path, which makes it great. We sat outside and enjoyed a great bottle of wine and enjoyed the simplicity of the cheese and mushrooms….but the house dessert (local dish with...orange, but tastes like the perfect piece of pecan pie. worth the stop.More
My wife and I had a late lunch here after some site seeing. Overall, we had an exceptional experience. Three perfect courses and an amazing gimlet. I would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
Wandering up and down the old town we stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant to have a drink/bite to eat whilst sitting outside. Quick and efficient service from the staff, food and drink price very reasonable, what more can you ask for.
Incredible food - worth the small walk up! Having just visited Peña, we were starving and looking for something local that wasn’t just pizza/general tourist food. SO glad we went up the small lane up from the square. The staff there are super friendly, they...have nice baby changing facilities and the inside looks medieval. The food was incredible - I never review, but I haven’t ate this well in ages. I had the steak with the ham & mushroom sauce, and we had the cod & seabass - all were amazing. If you’re in Sintra and not sure where to eat, GO.More
Our family enjoyed a very nice lunch here recently: we were served by a very friendly waiter who took his time answering questions about the menu; starters were excellent, particularly their creative take on squash soup; fish mains were also well executed; the food was...accompanied by a nice wine based on the waiter's recommendation. In general, the wine list was conventional, though it was nice to see that premium options had less of a mark-up. Only so-so dish was the partridge, which as a bit overcooked. Will visit againMore
A cute dinner after leaving a nearby restaurant where we were ignored by rude staff. Bacalhau was stunning. My husbands tenderloin was quite grisly sadly but these things happen and the staff were lovely about it and took it off the bill. Delicious sangria too
one of the best bacalao "a tacho real" I've ever had so far... (and I ate bacalao every day during my holidays)... and a very nice view, too...
It took us a while to walk there because we had just arrived and didn’t know our way around yet. It was very busy outside but it was quiet inside. Lovely building and creative dishes. They were very knowledgeable about wines and we learned a...lot about Portuguese wines.More
After seeing a lot of clearly poor restaurants, I am glad we took a chance here. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the restaurant is quiet but with enough foot traffic to keep things interesting. Seating was out doors in the shade which was...great after a lot of walking. We both had the pepper steak which is one of the best we have had in Portugal. Great quality with an excellent sauce. Sides were great and the staff friendly. Would be my number one choice if I was to find myself back in Sintra.More
We were very lucky and nabbed the final table for two on the shady patio of this restaurant in the lanes above the centre of Sintra. Pleasant service. Recommended.
We ate here for lunch and were very pleased. Very nice atmosphere, sat outdoors on the patio. Excellent service and very tasty food. We recommend the veal cutlet. The desserts are also exquisit.
Ordered “national food” of Portugal, Cod. It was the best I ever had! Their grandma’s recipe? Their service was awesome. Atmosphere can’t be better! A great place to enjoy city of Sintra.
