Hands down the best pastel de nata in Lisbon, probably in Portugal. Absolutely love them. Busy as always, but a very short line and quick to get our tarts. Been before when it is quite a long line but they keep up with quick service. Have an will go back!

Must see although a bit touristy. Expect to queue for around 5 mins. There is definitely a factory feel to it because of the queues but what counts is how good the tarts are. Don't forget to sprinkle cinnamon!

Pasteis de Belem is a must for every tourist. Rightfully so. A huge place with moderate prices. Don't be creative and go for the original pasteis. Those are simply divine.

This place serves the best pastries in town. It's also conveniently located in the Belem area where many museums and the tower of Belem are located. Everyone visiting lisbon should eat here. A 10/10

This is a mandatory place to visit, to bring a good coffee and eat the typical Portuguese cakes of "nata" (sweet cream, eggs and cinnamon).

It is a very very busy place - there is a line of people at the door, for most of the day, but it is worth the wait - you can buy a packet of 6 or go in and have it with a cup of coffee - either way, sprinkle icing sugar and cinnamon and ENJOY!!!!

It is mandatory to go from Praça do Comércio, taking the old style tram to Belém, and stop at the Pastéis de Belém factory. There you should taste those delicious candies made using a secret recipe since early 19 century. In the nearby area you should visit the Mosteiro dos Jerônimos, the Torre de Belém and the Monumento aos Descobrimentos, all... Recently featured on the Travel Man: 48 hours in Lisbon series, this is the best place to sample the Pasteis de Nata. They use a deli-counter ticketing system so queue on the right, pay and take your ticket then move to the left and hand your ticket to a member of staff behind the counter. Fresh, hot and extremely tasty... More

Staying in Belem

Neighbourhood Profile
Belem
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
