My wife and I visited this place in mid-November; we liked it a lot. The staff is very knowledgeable, attentive, and the service is great, though not compulsive. They have a very, very decent choice of food, as well as a abundant wine list. Desserts are perfect, too. The restaurant is sort of pricey, especially if you order wine and... More

Don't know if it happens every June 12th but the whole town turned out to celebrate by grilling and eating sardines. There were also parades and street corner bands marching and entertaining well into the night. We were told every restaurant would have grilled sardines on the menu and they just happen to be our favorite fish to eat. My... More

Near the railway station and our hotel. Give it a try. No nonsense, no fuss. Typical everyday food. Grilled swordfish, sardines, plenty of veg. A range of drinks. Very busy, quick and clean. Impressed.

A block away from our fabulous Hotel Olissippo & recommended by our hotel staff - it was a real find on our 1st night in Lisbon. The 4 of us shared a local paella type dish (with fresh seafood) & thoroughly enjoyed everything about this friendly restaurant) Be sure to try the recommended Planalto Vinho Branco Seco Reserva (dry white... It's a small restaurant not far from Belém atractions. Typical portuguese food for small budget travellers.

Walking to Belem in a rainy day we meet this restourant just in time for lunch. We didn't know what to expect, but we had a great experience. Service and ingredients were great and our lunch, consequently, was one of our best meals in Lisbon. Warmly recommanded.

The outside look of the restaurant is deceiving. You expect to find a traditional somewhat weak Portuguese restaurant and, as you enter, everything is newly decorated and you find youself in a modern restaurant. At the time of my visit it was a little less than halve occupancy so the service was really great. The menu is very long and... More

Staying in Belem

Neighbourhood Profile
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
