This was our last night in Lisbon after a fantastic weekend. We had tried to get in to a few other restaurants which had been recommended, but they were fully booked. We stumbled upon this restaurant in the Praca Do Comercio and liked the look of the menu. The staff were very attentive and helped us with choosing our meals... More

The service was amazing. The staff was honest and helpful. The food was good, but not great, and a little overpriced.

Too cool to eat outside however the interior does take you up a notch or two on the dining ladder. Very busy and many reserved tables indicate that it is a popular dining spot. An adventurous menu with choice ingredients, very rare to see a vegetable in Portugal. This chicken dish did have grilled peppers and onions and was delicious.... More

After perusing the everyday offerings of the other adjacent restaurants we were intrigued by the more interesting offerings from the last one in the row, Populi. Turned out to be the best dinner both myself and my wife for ages. Steak to die for and the most beautifully presented octopus dish imaginable. Absolutely terrific, very friendly service and wine offerings.... More

Had lunch here twice last week. Demetri was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Would recommend the cheese and meat board.

Stopped here for some drinks and mentioned it was friends birthday - shortly after a lovely cake appeared for her. Lovely touch and staff were very helpful in directing us to train station afterwards.

We went there for a coctail before flight home. First we got a coffee and took our time to choose a coctail. Nobody ever came to take our second order... We waited more than 20 min with empty cups and then we went to pay at bar and leave to catch our flight. Not very pleasant experience.

Dear Marta, First of all thank you for your review. Sorry for the bad experience in our restaurant and I will take the necessary measures, so that it does not happen again. In this business… or better to say, in any business everything counts! We are losing our capability, as human beings, to forgive …any human mistakes! If I may,... More

Populi catered for 18 of us from Dublin for a 40th birthday. Given so much choice from their A la Carte. The service was excellent and the food was delicious!! Highly recommended. Joana in reception was fantastic, in touch with me every other day to help me organise this birthday dinner. She was very patient with my requests as the... More

Excellent food, professional service in a stylish interior with the winewall as an eyecatcher. My partner and I had such a wonderful meal the first time, we came back for another one the next day. Excellent, professional service by Filipe and Dimitri. The restaurant is very well located on the waterfront. We visited Populi in februari, it must be a... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
