Had coffee at this place each morning during our wonderful stay in Lisbon, the service was fine, nothing special. But the last day a new waiter Pedro, asked me to stand up for someone else in a rude way. I explained to him that I was also waiting there with my kid. He said that I should have talked with... Ok food. Terrible service. Nice setting on the street. But really nothing special. Would not go back.

On the positive, lovely choice of cookies & macaroons. But I was over-charged!! The restaurant was a let-down- no pizza, or rice available & wouldn't serve the kid's meal unless we had a takeaway!

We were looking for something light for a quick lunch,. Concierge recommended this and we couldn't have been happier. Sat outside and could hear music being played in background. Had tuna salad that was very light and fresh. Would not come here for dinner as it reminded me more of an upscale pastry shop. Service was a bit slow but... More

Came in on whim. Staff was very busy, and fairly friendly. I had the shrimp salad, and my husband had the pork (dish of the day). The food left a lot to be desired. The pork was extremely dry. I couldn't finish my salad because I couldn't even cut the shrimp with a fork they were so rubbery. When the... More

Prime location, but poor quality coffee, pasteis and hot chocolate. Might be a good spot for drinks.

A lovely meal in this venue and the best about it is that you can select your dessert from the counter which is laden with lots of lovely cakes etc.

We had a very good lunch here and the location is awesome. Right in the center of Baixa-Chiado offering a superb view over the city. Good food and drink. Totally worth the time!

Just popped in for lunch, The staff were attentive and helpful. It was lovely to see them dressed in black trousers, black waistcoats over a white shirt with white aprons. A lovely traditional feel in quaint surroundings. The food was excellent, service superb and all good home cooked items on the menu. In all a first class experience and value... More

We had a meal here early evening and it was dreadful. This may be a beautiful patisserie, but the meal we had was poor. I left most of mine, as did my husband. It was tasteless, cold and like fast food.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
