Small place but well lit. Service was excellent, we had fritters, samosa, paratha, garlic naan. Prawns korma, lamb curry and tandoori chicken. We 3 finished it all plus a bottle of house red wine that was full bodied. We ended with apple lemon tea. Great food.

If you get tired of salted cod, and need an "Indian fix" this is a good place. It is close to the center of town (an easy walk from Baixa). The food is standard Indian fare. The bread (nan) was very good, and the mango lassi excellent. We had two curries one vegetarian and the other chicken. Both very good,... More

The food and service were excellent. We enjoyed our meal very much and it is one of the best Indian meals we have had in Portugal. One word of warning. A man attempted to snatch my bag as we were approaching the restaurant. It's a dimly lit and steep street. My advice would be to take a taxi. It would... More

We went there due to the exciting critics and because the restaurant was close to our apartment. The place itself looks like a typical Indian restaurant. The waiter was nice and friendly. The menu isn't very large but big enough to find something we liked. We had a chili chicken and two paneer dishes. The food came quickly and was... More

A bit difficult to find even with the trip advisor app as there is a lot of construction in this area of Lisbon. Once there all was good. The service was attentive, the food was good and a nice change from the usual around. Our favorites were the naan and the lamb briyani but everything else was good too.

Servers were very courteous. Food was well cooked. However, popadoms/rice/naan is all invoiced on top. The price is above average for that area in Lisbon. Main dishes and rice portions are quite small. On a more positive note: chutneys are home-made and very tasty. We have not tried other Indians in Lisbon but compared to other European cities, it is... More

The food was excellent - my wife had a very creamy korma and I had a more spicy chicken dish from Goa and they were both delicious. The staff were also very friendly and helpful ; making us feel at home from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was reasonably busy but the food arrived promptly and we weren't... More

After having watered down tasteless curries from Thai and Nepalese restaurants in Lisbon, I was despairing that I'd never find spicy food in the city. So glad I found India Gate from Tripadvisor recommendations. I ordered Chicken Chilli because I like my food very very spicy. My boyfriend ordered Chicken Tika Masla because he likes it less spicy. Both of... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
