Found a bit of Great Yarmouth in Lisbon,,,ala Chicken BBQ and here at Cara dale India. Food enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Crowded but not long to wait. A banquet including beers and coffee for less than 20 euro.

Excellent restaurant in the heart of Barrio Alto. The prices are very affordable and the food delicious. The restaurant can be very packed (for good reason!). Certainly worth a visit for no nonsense Portuguese cuisine if you are in the area.

Yes, it can be crowded, but that's for a good reason. The prices are very reasonable and the food is well prepared. We sat at the communal dining tables between a couple of Lisbon matrons demolishing their grilled chicken and a family that methodically worked through impressive piles of sea food. The seafood rice was very rich and crammed with... More

Don't let the shabby exterior deter you - Casa Da India is probably one of the best places to eat without burning a hole in your pocket. One meal + beer + bottle of water (to share) is around 10 Euros per person. Lots of locals here too. Had dinner with two travel partners here and we ordered a grilled... More

The restaurant is very affordable and have good options. I went there by recommendation from our hostel and we really liked it! It's not a big deal, but the meals were good and cheap. The place is crowded and loud! Try something from the grill!

This restaurant, despite the name, serves typical Portugese food. We had the sardines and cuttlefish. (And a terrific bottle of wine.) You sit with other diners, that you don't know, but that's part of the fun. This is not fine dining, but the food is good and the atmosphere is very energetic.

The kind of places that make a visit different. I´ve read many posts saying they do not underestand why 5 stars?, i answer them because of the food, the price and the portuguese atmosphere. We loved it.

This place is often banged out with queues outside waiting to be seated. The night we went was mainly locals by the look of it. Locals were sat at the bar watching Benfica FC but low key like. MY wife and I had chicken piri piri, rice and chips and a couple of beers and it was reasonable. You squash... More
