There were 6 of us, but even though we were early (~6:30), they had to work to fit us in. The owner was so friendly and helpful. With recommendations, we selected a variety of tapas, which were all delicious - we had to order more!...Then, he brought the accordion out - what a fun evening!More

Checked out some review on Tripadvisor before heading out for some evening drinks and food. We decided to have a stroll around some of Lisbons many bars and eateries and graze on some of the fantastic food. ( well that was the plan ) We...both liked the look of Grau Douro from the reviews and found the establishment very easily in Rua Dunques de Braganca. On arrival the small (but cosy) place was very busy and having no booking we were offered a seat at the bar. This offer was accepted and the owner came straight over with the drinks menu , we are not knowledgeable about Portuguese wine so asked for some guidance. He asked what we liked and suggested a couple of wines ( neither were expensive) and promptly poured a taste of each, followed by a full measure. We quaffed the lovely wine ordered some more and asked for the food menu. The owner who was clearly in control of the whole show was exhilarating to watch , moving from table to table , laughing and joking with the customers and even playing the accordion from time to time a delight to observe. The food arrived Covert ( bread with oil ) the Prawns in garlic sauce and a portion of Bacalhau a bras (codfish , slices of potato and egg cooked in the oven) both dishes were absolutely delicious. Unfortunately by siting at the bar the Toucinho do Ceo do Avo ( Grandpa`s Heavenly Tart ) was positioned on the bar top just in front of us , so a portion along with a very nice glass of port had to be consumed to finish the night. Everything about the place is fantastic, the food is amazing , the staff are friendly and great , the atmosphere is homely , all in all a great find , needless to say we only managed the one bar that night best laid plans and all that. Grau Douro thankyou for a Fantastic Evening. We will be back.More

The food was the best I had in Lisbon during my 2 day stay, we tried several dishes and each one was exceptional. That alone would have probably been enough for me to give it 5 stars but perhaps better than the food (if that...is possible) was the service. The owner is a passionate, joyful person who is always on hand to offer a fantastic recommendation or make your time in the bar/restaurant more enjoyable. The experience is one I will never forget and will be quick to repeat if I find myself in Lisbon again.More

Went here based on Tripadvisor reviews and it was ell worth it. I would recommend going early as it was quiet when we got there, but full when we left with some waiting for our table. It's a small place, but staff are really friendly....Food was great and served at a good pace and the wine was very enjoyable. We would go back here definitely.More

The restaurant is a bit away from the busy areas of the city so not jam packed with tourists. The restaurant had a lovely vibe and Oscar was very inviting to everyone. It was one of the best tapas I’ve ever had. Oscar gave us...great explanations of each course and recommended the perfect wine for us. The courses came out individually and the timings between the meals was perfect (which we thought was a nice touch). The grandpa’s heavenly tart was delicious and would highly reccommend. Overall a fantastic experience and our favourite place to eat in Lisbon… There was even an accordion set by Oscar himself which got the place going!More

A gem, could easily be a local hidden spot but instead it is bursting with tourists. Affordable prices and wonderful classy food, capped with an ambiance that rivals the fancy restaurants of the city.

Believe the great reviews. Best food we had in Lisbon. Excellent wine. Great ambiance. Owners and employees truly seem to enjoy what they're doing. Smiles everywhere. Reasonable prices. Tiny place and no reservations, but we were lucky to walk right in.

Off the beaten path so wouldn’t have just walked past so very happy we researched where to eat. You can’t book so we were lucky to be squeezed in on the last table. Slightly disappointed we didn’t arrive hungrier after having a big lunch as...what we did have was so delicious we would have liked to taste more. We had prawns, chorizo and chicken wings. Prawns and chorizo were delicious - would pass on the wings. Shared an almond torte for dessert which was amazing. Small and good vibe bar and restaurant. Lovely bottle of wine, great atmosphere, very attentive friendly service from the owner and good tunes. If we come back to Lisbon we would definitely go back and we highly recommend.More

We had a wonderful evening at this small Tapas Bar last week. The owner is very engaging and helped us with both the food and wine choices. We had a fantastic platter of meats and cheeses with the quality of the meats being exceptional. We...followed this with the Chicken Gizzards, which was a family recipe, and they were a revelation and beautiful - highly recommended. We were recommended a beautiful Portuguese white wine which was dry and minerally - a great accompaniment to the food. The bar is intimate and the evening was enhanced by the chat with our fellow Canadian diners on the table to next to us - it’s that sort of place. This bar with its excellent food, wine and ambiance is a must for any visitors to Lisbon and we will return on our next visit. Thanks for a great evening !More

A tiny place with limited seating and little ambiance, but a great place for good tapas and excellent Douro wines. We ate at the bar and enjoyed watching the preparations and talking with staff . The proprietor was especially helpful with wine selections and we...were able to try a number with food to match. The small meat and cheese platter was perfect for two and the chicken gizzards were a special treat. Not easy to find, but worth searching out. Prices are very reasonable. A great introduction to Portuguese wines.More
