Delicious Porto brioches, comfortable upper room with seating. On the climb to Sao George Castle. At eight in the morning, as soon as it opens, you can enjoy the freshly baked pasteis and brioches with Port: delicious!

A fabulous little find, we stumbled across this place on our way to visit the castle. Fabulous Cafe late & pastel de nata. You can either buy takeaway or grab seating upstairs by the open windows… Highly recommended.

We stopped here after 8 am for a coffee and pastry before visiting the St. Jorge castle; few other places are opening any earlier and it was wonderful to discover a cafe open. Very friendly staff, small selection of delicious pastry options, sandwiches, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and a variety of decent coffees. Additional seating on the second floor. Clean bathrooms. An early recommended stop before visiting the castle.

Tourist Trap with a portuguese twist. (Any bad pastry made in Portugal will please any unconscious vacationers, who are the majority who come to this part of the city.) I have already done a review about this space on google and as I did not have a response from the space (unlike many other circtics) and as the quality of the pastry has only been decreasing I come here now to do another in order to draw attention donates owners of the space. I'm a neighbor of space and a consumer of it since it opened. Unfortunately the quality has only vindoan decrease day by day. Of the owners there is never repoata to no be for tourists who go there only once. This score of 1 does not reflect the work of the employees who continue with all the attention and good mood they always had, which I never had reasons to complain about. The criticisms that I see to the employees for other customers in the comments (mostly European tourists accustomed to mass tourism and to be served with servility things of poor quality) are obviously complaints of people mocked and who think that the employee, regardless of the salary and payrolls of this (we convened that in this bakery and in the restaurant in Portugal in general are but conditions) has to always be smiling even if the customer is poorly polite and annoying, as they are many there. Turning to the criticism in question: The quality of bakery has been decreasing from year to year. Prices have been rising. Until recently they had a mixed leaf (milaneza) which was still one of the few things worth eating. In the meantime they made a new selection of salts. They kept the sausage, although of worse quality since the sausage is now so big that it seems to be raw inside, besides no longer having the little mustard they put. They did, however, a new selection of packages, expensive by the way, and with flavors that are not properly appealing to the places very meosnapra to be eaten in the morning (it is a pastry...) cod, chicken with mushrooms, etc... otherwise the options are only expensive cakes and nothing typical, with the exception of the sandwich, sandwich that was a few years ago one of the best in the city. The space still boasts to have had in 2019 (and manages to attract many tourists with it) the best sandwich of Lisbon. Unfortunately today it is at most mediocre, since it has so much flour that it gets quite heavy. Breakfast fortunately hasn't changed in price for more than a year, it's 3.90€, expensive for locals, however the quality has been decreasing. The fiambre is so scratchy that even cartilage sometimes has... I would no longer be frequentor were not the friendly officials on the one hand and on the other the fact of being the only pastry less than 500 meters from my house. I would love to know the opinion of the bakery owner regarding their own products and the opinion of the locals. For me it is a space directed only for the vacationer, although you want to use image and name of local traditions to be able to sell your products better. As those who comment here are practically only tourists who do not know what is good protuga pastry the online Rating of this space remains high but nothing saves the quality of the products and the way of managing the space already criticized by me earlier. Thank you for answering, otherwise there will always be the complaints book that one day with patience and time I will be happy to request.

The delicious Pasteis de Nata are mandatory in Lisbon. And which pastry shop makes the best? We tried some - these were really delicious. Except this pasteleria is not a cosy café. You order your drink/dish at the counter below like in a canteen and squat on a bar stool or walk up one floor. I didn't find it particularly clean.

Given the name, I was a little disappointed. There were no decent choices except pastels de nata, the rest of the pasta available consists of non-inviting croissants and eclairs (not typical). I was expecting something less touristy. Council only for pastel de nata la not to have breakfast.

I ordered a pain au chocolat and vanilla ice cream. The ice cream tasted very cheap, and the pastry wasn't fresh. It was so hard that I didn't eat it. I left it there. It feels like a tourist trap, but I can see a lot of positive reviews, so maybe we were just unlucky to receive that pastry. It was at least a day old, if not older.

We stumbled upon Pastelaria Santo Antonio while exploring Lisbon, and it turned out to be a lovely find! We tried their pastéis de nata and a croissant with wine from Porto, and both were delicious. The café was not crowded, allowing for a relaxing atmosphere and fast service. If you’re wandering the streets of Lisbon, I highly recommend stopping by Pastelaria Santo Antonio for a delightful treat!

This was the best pastel I ever had. What more do you want? The best part was it never had a long line during our entire stay, probably because of the hilltop location. However, service was a bit slow. Worth it for that fresh pastel. It is easy to get to from the free elevator at the Chão do Loureiro building up to Restaurante Zambeze’s terrace, then walk uphill for three minutes.

Absolutely worth a little detour if you want traditional pastries and gorgeous ice-cream (especially raspberry flavour). Lovely staff and lots of locals there - always a good sign. We’ve visited 3 times now; give it a go 👍😊👍

Crispy Nata pasteis with almost liquid and delicious cream, the best enjoyed during our stay! The service is efficient. Take away: pasteis are sold individually (1.4€ in October 24) or in small boxes of 2 or 6. But you should also know that there is a large room upstairs, very pleasant if it rains or is too hot. Very decent sandwiches.

My boyfriend and I visited this bakery multiple times during our visit to Lisbon in August 2024 and it was hands down our favorite bakery from our entire time in Portugal. We went back almost daily since our hotel was right next door. The pastel de nata was our favorite of the trip, by far, and I was also super partial to the port wine soaked croissant. Will be dreaming about it until we can make it back to Portugal.

When you walk through Lisbon, it is common to smell the delicious pastel de nata. I have never tried this sweet before coming to Portugal. It’s mind blowing! at this pastry shop you can definitely try the best in town! We tried a pastel de nada in every single bakery shop we saw in Lisbon.. and this was the best.

It is said to be the first place winning store for The Best Cream Custard Tart in 2019. The exterior wall of the building is beautiful. It's near Sao Jorge Castle, so you have to climb up a considerable hill, but it's worth the effort. The other breads here are great too, but you must try Nata. It has a layered, crispy croissant-like texture on the outside and a soft creamy interior, and the combination of the two is perfect. I think it's even better because it's not too sweet.

Located in Lisbon’s Castelo district at Rua Milagre Santo António 10, Pastelaria Santo António is the most recent winner of Portugal’s “National Tasting of Pastel de Nata,” and for those willing to ascend the hills and wait in line at opening the reward is warm, flaky, delicate and perceivably less sweet than the competition. Currently opening at 8:00am daily, with a small group gathering twenty minutes prior as the lone Baker works in an open kitchen, it is immediately on entry that the smell of baking Bread is evident – even though some items may not be fully ready until later. Made larger by upstairs seating, though locals seem to take their items to-go, it was after ordering that a young clerk said “here’s one more, you’re going to want it” as he placed another Tart on the tray already containing more than enough Carbs for one. Smart to begin and end with Santo António’s signature, the best Tart tasted across fifteen eateries in five days, those seeking something savory should certainly consider the Chicken Pie inside a golden Crust while the Port Wine Croissant is also pretty special, even though it lacks much honeycombing in the middle.

Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
