This was another disappointing visit. Dim Sum needs to be steaming hot and not tepid. It was explained away by the waiter and the manager too. We will not give this place a third try.

It’s a very nice restaurant and the staff were very accommodating, but the food was just average find it hard to believe it genuinely is the best Chinese restaurant in Europe.
A sunny day and a room full of happy people ruined by very poor kitchen service. The food ordered came with one hour of delay and one of the plate was the wrong one, while the second guest never got hers. After complaining we were...told the kitchen was closed (because of the delay it was already past 3pm.). A friendly waiter tried to help us by getting a different plate that was wrongly given to another client who refused it. A nice touch but the food was completely cold and very badly prepared. Some rice pasta with beef and black beans sauce, that was not correctly mixed with the sauce only on the outside. A forgetful experience in such a nice place. In the end we didn’t pay for the main course.More
They're quick to say "The Mandarin is the best Asian restaurant in Europe." In my experiece on 5/10/22 NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! It's not even the best on the block! The sliced duck tasted like cooked jerky - probably cut up before...freezing, goodness knows how long ago and then defrosted in the microwave - as tough and dry as crocodile's skin and totally TASTELESS. I nearle cracked my jawbone trying to chee it. The noodles were not much better, slapped together and submerged in a bath of highly liquid, tasteless sauce of no particular description. Disgraceful!!!More
Situated right below the casino in Estoril, it's a convenient restaurant if you are spending the evening there anyhow. We were a party of friends, greeted nicely on arrival but from then on service was slow, inattentive and impersonal, felt more like being in a...self service cafe. Starters were ok, but main dishes were bland and boring. Wine over priced. We will not be back.More
works like a well oiled machine. superb management . very good food . well priced - very clean . 2 areas inside carpeted elegant.other half covered glassed in terrace. Perfect service . a compliment to excellent malagement
We have lived in Portugal over 1 1/2 years and have never had a really bad meal until we ate at the Mandarin. The food was terrible. I ordered a chicken with black bean sauce and the chicken was all the gristle parts you throw...away when you cook chicken It was totally inedible and returned. The replacement was a rice with seafood which was very mediocre. My wife had scallops. Also mediocre. I would not return even if it was all you can eat for 5 euros. And the prices here are higher than the average restaurants here.More
Very good but with a few caveats. We did not have the peking duck or abalone which appear to be signature dishes. I will return to try them out.The hot and sour soup was good but I would not have it again. My wife loved...the wonton soup. The cantonese duck was good but nothing special. It lacked something and I believe was cooked to appeal to western palates....ie plain and simple. The szechuan prawns were delicious and we will have again. The salt and pepper squid was plain for the western palate and overly battered. I would not have it again. The rice was excellent as was the hofun noodle(rice noodle vermicelli) with beef and peppers. We have eaten chinese food most of our lives in London which I think has some of the best in the world. So we are pretty exacting in our critique. I think a lot of Mandarim's cooking is altered for the tastebuds of the mostly europeans and tourists who go there. The restaurant was full of pretty much europeans who were there for a special occasion. However, we will go back as the cooking is competent and there is a lot more to try. The atmosphere and service is great too. And if you fancy a flutter at the roulette table, you can gamble afterwards at the casino!More
This place is so overrated. Unless you have money to waste stay away. The food is less than mediocre, the staff are rude and the price is extortionate. Note to self, check trip advisor before going to an untried restaurant 👎👎
If you are not a regular with tons of money give this place a miss. Poor service, cold tasteless food.
Interesting but too expensive. There are others places cheaper with same kind of food without too much formatily to have a table
Great location and good service but food very poor, microwaved pancakes over done and stuck to the plate. Two main dishes were tasteless and needed heaps of soy sauce! Wouldn’t go back. Such a shame.
We came here with very high expectations based on friends recommendation. We took dishes we usually eat at our local Chinese restaurant (sweet and sour pork; lemon and sesame chicken; ginger chicken and oyster sauce beef, plus sautés veg and wanton soups). Food was ok...but tasteless and with little sauce. Probably we are used to a more flavored Chinese cuisine and this is the reason of our disappointment. Service and location were fantastic, though. Bill was really high considering that is Chinese food (85 euro for three with only water to drink and no dessert!)More
One would expect a top level elaborate modern Chinese food in a leading casino in Europe which belongs to people from Macao. The menu indeed contains dozens of meals made with abalone and birds’ nests. I am not a specialist in this type of extra...exotic dishes. But if you visited at least five Chinese restaurants in you life, you can consider yourself an expert in a hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, fried duck and fried pineapple. All these meals were ordered at this restaurant and were very mediocre, served simply and without any hint of imagination (without heating at the table which is a must in the most restaurants). The quality of the food was acceptable and prices were moderate. The service time was almost a record (just a couple of minutes to heat the dish in the microwave, I suppose). At the same time, the service was very professional and friendly. Five stars for the service and Portuguese wine (selected from the wine list) and two stars for the food.More
A good place for a Chinese meal before a show at the Casino. Nearby restaurants, easily within walking distance, might be a better choice. You did have to be alert to grab the servers as they went past. My wife had chicken strips which were...pretty dry. I had sweet and sour pork which was somewhat overcooked. We also had spring rolls which were greasy. Nice atmosphere though.More
