A smallish, charming space, close to the center of town. At dinner, we shared an order of rice with duck and vegetables - really delicious. Dessert was a lemon tart with strawberry jam. All was accompanied by a delicious local wine. What made the evening memorable was the very personable, helpful young waitress who took care of us. Highly recommended.
This place never fails and I always visit it whenever I'm in town. It's quaint and very welcoming inside, the staff are attentive without being intrusive and the food is absolutely fantastic. I am yet to be disappointed and long may that continue! Lastly the owner is a fantastic host always ensuring you never leave without a pleasurable experience. He... More
Cortiço is one of those places everyone recommends in Viseu. My girlfriend and I visited on a busy night, but managed to get a table easily. The waiters immediately brought in cheese and smoked ham, which we accepted, and a frying pan with chorizo and morcilla which we turned back. Seemed a lot for starters! We’ve had Cavernães veal with... More
My girlfriend took me to this famous, old restaurant in Viseu and I loved it!! The welcome is very friendly and the staff are very helpful and keen to see you enjoying your food. To start with you have some beautiful Black Pudding and Chouriço sausage. Very tasty! The local cheese is also great. We ate Vitela and Arroz de... More
We came back to this restaurant after many years ... It looks a bit different, but the food is still very good, although a bit more expensive than other restaurants around. The only negative part was the dessert - the rice pudding was old and too dry... which does not match the price level.
Stayed in Viseu two nights at the Pousada, and thought we would eat out. We came across this totally unpretentious little restaurant in the centre of town, and looking at the menu outside, with a waiter standing by, expecting to be encouraged to go in, were pleasantly surprised to be left alone. So, we went in. An elderly man, who... More
Got to Viseu for a short business trip. Wanted a restaurant with local food and tradition. Cortiço was recommended and I am really happy to follow this recommendation. Food is well done, tender and tasty. Portions are generous, and can easily satisfy two. Restaurant's wine is fine, and the wine chart has a good selection. I will definitely come back.... More
We went to this restaurant as an advice from a local friend and were already excepting a good quality. However the service was quite good even if we already ordered at 1530 (30min waiting time) a dish that had to be cooked on the fly... Arroz de "carqueija". I can only say that both the starters: Presunto and cheese and... More
