If you're not interested in a white tablecloth dinner and prices but looking for a delectably gratifying experience in simple food and merry fanfare, this is the place. It's set a on obscure sidestreet and expect a line. Wait. Once you are ushered in by the iconoclastic waiter/owner/ringmaster, look around. There's only 6 tables and the walls are papered in... On the way back to Porto from Piodáo decided to have lunch in Coimbra. What a nice surprise to find this cosy low profile tavern style restaurante with only 5 tables. Excellent food.

We waited for 1 hour to get seated. Restaurant has 6 or 7 tables and it works for 3 hours in the evening. The food was simple yet really delicious, portions were big, wine was great and cheap. The owner (I suppose it was the owner) presented all the dishes and was really funny. But again, think twice if you... More

Get in line and get a table. The food and service here is really good. We had bread, olives, wine, pork belly, goat, potatoes, spinach, dessert all for under 23 euro. Very different inside. Fun place to eat.

This is a tiny restaurant of 6 tables for maybe 15 -18 people. It opens at 7:30pm and to get in you need to line up around 7. The first night we arrived at 720 and we did not make the cut. The good part is the line is fun - you get to meet other travellers, students or locals.... More

We found it difficult to find in a tiny little street. Seats only about 20 people and is in big demand. One problem the menu is only in Portuguese, our helpful waiter explained it all but it was still difficult to select what you wanted. The more expensive fish dishes come in an oven dish complete with vegetables and looked... More

Very tiny cosy place where you fell as part of the family. The food is simple and delicious. Don't miss it when in Coimbra. I went for a late lunch by 15:00, so I was quickly seated and served, but I imagine there must be a long queue.

What an experience?! It just isn't food, it's the whole show. You arrive in an alley, dim lit and with people lining up before open time. Head waiter rolls out, counts heads and goes back inside and sets the tables. He throws a few menus around for people to look at in line, then starts taking orders. The chefs are... More

A nice local and very typical restaurant, a must if you want to try local food in a very simple but cosy place full with stories and experiences from previous visits
