Didn’t feel welcome at all. The ”lady” of the house has a serious attitude problem. Check appeared on the table without request after the main course. No creetings, smiles etc.

This is a very comfortable restaurant with inside/outside seating. Friendly staff and a good variety of dishes for dinner and lunch. They also offer a "full English" breakfast for 5 Euros which is a bargain. We went often during our stay. The Owner, Robin, is...very hospitable and his staff are happy to please. Good prices in relation to other restaurants in the area. A must try if in the Praia do Vau area.More

We have just returned from our annual trip to Vau and as always the Jacaranda has to be the first place we visit. The food is truly delicious, especially the fresh fish and the steaks, not to mention the wonderful array of desserts. The staff...are lovely and every year we are welcomed with open arms and treated like friends. This is the restaurant that we frequent the most during our holiday as they cater well to breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as evening meals. It can get busy at times but we just make sure to book so as to not be disappointed. I would highly recommend this restaurant.More

When we came at 16:00 they told us the kitchen is closed we shall come back at 18:00. When we came back at 18:00 they told us 8 people are too much (4 adults and 4 hungry children), they cannot serve us. Very unfriendly.

After 3 years returned to Praia do Vau and visited this restaurant again. 3 years ago it was a nice and cozy place, with decent food and with very friendly service, the servant always taking time for a little chat. This changed. The servant did...not work there anymore and the atmosphere changed to a place without the old friendliness and a cold non-personal service. Jacaranda manages to convert from a breakfast and lunch spot to a lovely intimate dinner venue. The sea bass in garlic butter was cooked to perfection. It was moist, tender and so flavoursome. We have visited The Jacaranda far too many times to mention, since our first stay in Vau, back in 2007. However this was our first visit in 3 years due to Covid. It was great to be back and we had 4 excellent meals over...our holiday period, the Fillet Steak is always good, but my recommendation is the fresh fish, especially the Dorada/Sea Bream, which was excellent on both occasions we had it. What I like about the fish at the Jacaranda is that it is always well cooked and their is none of this price per kg nonsense which plagues the fish restaurants in Alvor. The biggest issue at the Jacaranda is which one of the fabulous desserts to have, our family all have our own favourites, but the ‘issue’ is simplified by visiting on 3 or 4 occasions during each holiday, my own personal favourite is the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which I am already looking forward to when we return in 2023. So we excellent as usual and good value for money, see you all next July.More

I have gone to this place many times over the past decade, more out of handiness than anything else. The biggest. Problem here is the owner and how aggressive and rude she can be, but that depends on what day. She loves you, then she...ignores and is rude. She is incredibly rude to her own staff too. Her ex husband, Robin is the only one who understands customer service, and she constantly shouts at him. She makes it quite obvious that she doesn’t like Irish and English people which is a shame. She is Dutch. Her son who works there, really shouldn’t. The food is at best, average. Deserts are really good. Is cheaper than most places. Overall, not a pleasant experience this year and how she spoke to us this year, I will never set foot in there again.
