Great food … We enjoyed the black pig , Turkey in cream and I had the mixed Kabab . Burger was plain ( this was fully explained by the waitress) not a great choice ! Service is Portuguese slow and food is cooked to order…...not fast !More

Very disappointing. A somewhat cool welcome and very average food. No outdoor tables and no doors or windows open inside - air con off so very hot and stuffy. There are very many better restaurants locally.
A few mixed reviews meant we were a bit unsure on this one. Plenty of parking when we arrived. Large outdoor area that was covered to provide shade. Couldn't find fault after that. Service was very good. The house specials were lovely. Speed of service...was fine. On today's experience, would definitely revisit.More
2 exceptional dishes. The lamb stew is delicious. This traditionally comes with fried bread but before we have had it with soggy bread at the bottom. Here it was served with crunchy bread around the side. much better. The next time we went it was...unfortunately not available but I was not disappointed with my second choice. I had the tenderest steak ever . it was on the menu as Small steak house style which was perfect for me as I am not a big eater. It was served in the same gravy as Portuguese steak which is very tasty, but came with a choice of chips or rice and veg. or salad so all bases covered, also an optional egg on top. can't wait to go again but this time I shall be torn between the two.More
We loved this place! We were staying locally and this was the first place we found. The owner was extremely welcoming and friendly and the place was really relaxed - my youngest son (5) asked to go there all the time to choose ice cream...and we ate there 4 times throughout our stay. We found the food variety good and the dishes we tried were lovely. My eldest son (11) loved the wild boar curry so much he had it twice! Hopefully as the pandemic comes to an end these lovely authentic Portuguese places will continue to get more business.More
Nice country atmosphere. Food was excellent - best Ensopada de Borrego I´ve had in years. Victoria was so friendly and welcoming. We will be going back for sure.
Amazing place. Service is great and the food is phenomenal! We are here for the 2019 ISDE and have a feeling this will not be our last visit to this restaurant. There are several other plates I want to try!
We are regular visitors and always have an enjoyable time. The live music on Fridays and Sundays is great fun. Visiting Fonte is like taking a trip back in time. How restaurants used to be. It won't be the best food you've ever eaten, it...won't be the smartest place you've ever bean, but it's good honest Portugal.More
Only a 10th full at most and still took an hour to get our food. Meat was ok but already over garlicky food was showered in raw garlic to make it inedible. After finishing and not wanting puddings or coffee we were ignored, had to...call over (with volume which I hate) for the bill which the waiter acknowledged and then made coffee for one table and then puddings for another before (20 minutes later) bringing us the bill. Cash and bill sat and sat while he still ignored us so in the end just walked out leaving as close to the bill as possible but lack of change meant it was 70 cents short. I am usually a good tipper. Will not return despite being closest to our villa.More
We were staying in an apartment down the road and visited here three times during our stay. Although pretty much in the middle of nowhere, it was always busy: many of the diners appeared to be regulars (locals and ex-pats). Service is very friendly, if...a little slow at times (not surprising given how busy it is). The menu is wide, portions generous and all the dishes we had were very tasty. If you go on a Sunday evening you will experience live 'music' (in the broadest sense of the word). After a couple of glasses of house wine, we found it hilarious. Another reviewer says 'you imagine yourself in the eighties'. If you remember that decade fondly, you will probably enjoy your evening there! If your idea of a good meal is nouvelle cuisine, you may not.More
Difficult to agree with the other reviews. Went in on a Sunday night and can't say we felt really welcome. Meat and fish were really but a bit too salty, chips were really poor and dry, veg were...british ! (boiled), house wine nice. Music was...awful though. Most customers were british and I'm sure this restaurant is really enjoyable after many pints !More
You imagine yourself in the eighties, the food is great and the staff is very friendly. We ate there several times and every time it was delicious
Very friendly and nice place to eat . We had our vedding here in 2016 and best place to be . Good parking space and very quiet for the outside eating. Best time for that is the summer .
We visit this place when ever we are back in Portugal, at least twice each stay! Victoria and Carlos are always so welcoming, friendly and nothing is too much! The food is always incredible, reasonably priced and never disappointing! We always look forward to coming...again. Couldn’t recommend enough, especially the Prawns home style and the entertainment ..... it just makes you smile!More
Cosy and Friendly with great food. Live background music provides super ambience without being obtrusive (even if it was a little seventies on a bontempi !! )
