There are quite a few different options on the main street of Portimao and we opted for this one based on other reviews, no regrets this was one of the best meals I think I have had in Portugal. The other places are more touristy in terms of menu, this is real-deal portuguese food. Pro-Tip: Go with the menu of... More

Visited here on the back of good reviews on Trip Advisor. The place was exceedingly busy with locals and many people using the Rota offering for reduced price tapas (petiscos). We though both went for a special of monkfish and king prawn kebabs. They were exceptional indeed, beautifully prepared and presented. Helped down with some lovely Casal Mendes Rose. Throughout... We have dined here several times over a number of years when holidaying in the Algarve. Great quality seafood, nice service, good prices. Unbeatable.

We visit O Pipo quite often and are rarely disappointed. Typical Portuguese dishes are served in a small cosy inside with a good sized covered outside terrace for the summer. Chef owner serves up good food from a large daily menu using what seems a small kitchen. Fish and octopus recommended but also traditional Algarvean dishes such as small fried... More

Just had the eel stew... It was flawless. It's the second time I come to this restaurant and again I'm going to leave with the feeling of:"this guys sure know about portugese cuisine." Forget the turisty places next to the river. This is the kind of restaurant where locals come to eat all year long when they're looking for a... More

We chose this small place completely randomly- we were just looking for a place to have sea food on good price. The fish that we had (sward fish) was one of the tastiest I've ever tried. Fresh and delicious! Definitely will go back again next time!

After a gap of 3 or 4 years my girl and I visited O Pipo in Portimao for dinner on whilst on an overnight trip. Well...what can I say: still the best food in Portimao in our opinion. Great selection of fresh fish and other fresh produce. There's always a list of specials for the day and these appear to... More

I usually like to visit more rugged and hidden away restaurants but this place just looked really nice and the menu suited what we were looking for. A slightly more modern looking style restaurant. Lots of seafood as you would expect. I had a algarve style fish soup to start and a traditional tuna fish with tomato based sauce and... More

Saw this place whilst walking about Portimao however it was closed. We returned few days later as we liked the look of the menu. The grilled tuna Algarve style was stunning, so much flavour in the sauce and the fish was delicious too. The almond cake was heavenly! The staff were really nice and had a little chat with us....
