We visited Fainha yesterday, as we were tempted by the positive reviews. What a nice experience indeed. We had the ribeye steak and the tiger prawns and both dishes were excellent. Accompanied by a nice local wine and nothing left We could wish for.

Faina is just next to the sardine museum and serves up some excellent food. The staff all speak great English but the nervous eater needs to know that the food is very much Portuguese in style with many fish options. Assuming you are OK with...that, Faina is a great option and, for example, there was a 15 euro fixed price lunch which included: soup, main, sweet, soft drink and a coffee. My main was tempura cuttlefish with squid ink risotto, so a bit different but super tasty. A couple of others went for a generous beefsteak main which was also very well-received. Location and views are simply outstanding.More
We had truly delicious and excellent dining experience at Faina. We started with eggs and anchovies not knowing what it would look like or taste like. It looked great, like a scrambled omelet with anchovies lying over it, and tasted even better. We followed it...with cuttlefish rissoto, black rissoto flavored by cuttlefish and lightly fried cuttlefish over garlic aoili, together with nicely seared truly rare tuna with exceptional sweet potato fries on the side, accompanied by a delicious negra mole wine, a grape of the Algarve we had never tasted before. If not the very best meal we have had in our four weeks in Portugal, one of the beast. The service was attentive and helpful and the cost was reasonable.More
First visit to Faina, local to our hotel offering a nice menu and wine list. Pre-booked and greeted by friendly, helpful staff. Recommendations given for the petiscos and wine availability. Slight difference to other petiscos experiences in that courses followed as opposed to 'all-in' as...expected. Amejious (clams) first up. Fabulous! Sauteed mushrooms next. Great! And fried eggs, polvo and flat chips to finish. Different and delicious. Algarve glass of house white and bottle of red wine completed the lineup! Superb combination! Lovely pannacotta and coffee to finish. Large portions, lovely cooking and nice presentation at reasonable prices. Most enjoyable visit and will be returning in future. Recommended.More
We ate here once. We looked god a table just before 8pm and were asked to come back at 8.30 as there were two tables of 8 guests arriving! We did come back and we were seated and we waited and we waited! Eventually a...guy came and took our drinks order and told us his colleague would be back to take our food order and we waited. Eventually we placed our order for main course and again we waited and waited! Finally just as we were about to give up and just take our wine the waiter arrived with some olives bread and tuna pate😂 which despite not ordering we decided to eat cos we were starving! Finally the main course arrived and its the reason I gave a four star review. I had the shrimp with fries. 3 very large butterflied perfectly cooked prawns with a lovely garlic butter and proper homemade potato French fries. My husband had steak which he said was very good too and it was perfectly cooked also. So if you don’t mind waiting for hours to be fed I would recommend the food. Undoubtedly the chef knows what they are doing not sure anyone else doesMore
We ate here knowing that it had mixed reviews - we like more of the 'fine dine' experience but the setting on the marina attracted us. Food was more 'rustic' than some other places but we expected that. It was very tasty and the service...was good - so we got what we expected which was great.More
The bar restaurant looked lovely with live music. Lovely setting. However menu just plonked in front of us and very limited. Slow to return. Just ordered a drink as menu was very limited. Waiter returned with two Coke Zero with top still on. Waited another...10 mins - no return to open the drinks. Ha d to find a waiter to ask them to open our drinks. 35 minutes for a drink. Don’t waste your time visiting.More
Indifferent service, ok food, nice view. They almost seemed like they didn’t want to be open. One table got up and left after waiting too long for service. They brought us menus then told us the one menu wasn’t for lunch after we’d been looking...for a while.More
We waited 25 minutes for service. We wanted water and ice cream for the kids. Only the fourth waiter helped us
We were excited to find a wine bar next tot the Museu de Portimão, but sadly our visit tuned into a disappointment. We found a nice table on the terrace, but it took ages before the waiters came to take our order. We were also...very surprised the waiter didn't offer us a menu. Would have been nice to be able to choose between different wines. After we ordered we again had to wait very long before we got our two glasses of white wine. The wine itself was very nice, the service was dreadful.More
Called for drinks only and enjoyed what we had. It was good to have a change from the usual draught beer. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Took time to explain in detail the offerings on the menu. Everyday they serve fresh local seafood dishes. They also cater for Botha the meat and vegetarian palette. Finally absolutely great value for money.
Faina is conveniently located next to the Portimao Sardine Museum. There are also very nice views from the shady terrace of the marina, the river and Ferragudo on the opposite bank of the Arade river. We were only there for a snack. The Pasteis Bacalhau...were nice and the Tiborna Sardinha (we had to have this given we were next to the sardine museum) were also very tasty, with nice cherry tomatoes and sun-dried red peppers. Service was good.More
Live music, nice atmosphere and fab food, really enjoyed. Waiting staff were also lovely, telling us all about different Portuguese wines. Shrimp risotto great and the view from the window across to Farragudo was a real holiday scene.
