Stopped here twice last week on the recommendation of friends and loved the place. Delicious food and very welcoming people in a quaint little village in the mountains.

Tasca do Petrol is famous for its pork but don't ignore the fish -- and let them pick and plan the dish. They know what they are doing and arguments about quantity are futile. They gave me seven sardines even when I asked for five and what a joy there were.

We went here on the recent local holiday. The Sunday lunch menu was on and it is fantastic. No menu as such. They bring local starters such as liver, black pudding, local ham followed by various new cooked in the oven. Leg of pork, chicken stew, pigs cheek. They just place several dishes on the table for the party to... More

We were recommended to visit this restaurant as a good example of cuisine from the hinterland behind the Algarve coast. Marmelete is situated in the green rolling hills about 20 minutes east of the Cape St Vincent way and 20 minutes west of Monchique. Four of us were make a circular journey via the capes at St Vincent and Sagres... More

I had pork leg and my partner had pork chops. Both were cooked perfectly, the roast potatoes with my pork leg were lovely but both were just meat and potatoes dishes could have done with more veg or salad. Service was good, very quick for portugal. The carob desert hit the spot to finish!

Went to this restaurant on a recomendation and we weren't disapointed!Mainly a meat restaurant. They grill the meat really well and everything we eat was delicious! We went twice with our 3 children and they loved it too.We paid about 45/50€ for dinner (2/3 main meals, breads & butter, mixed traditional starters plate and puddings/ice cream for all).

On the way back to the hotel and decided to drop into the place, initially just for a dink, but we ended up having a late lunch. Lunch was excellent even though lunch was nearly over. Good choice of local dishes at a very reasonable price. Would recommend to any passing travellers.

On our trip to visit Monchique, we just dropped by this restaurant to eat lunch. Though the kitchen was just closing, we’re offered wild swine and tuna salad by a staff who was nice and fluent in English. Both dishes were tasty. The restaurant was clean and had a friendly atmosphere. The price was reasonable. I can recommend this restaurant.
