We had many recommendations for this restaurant so had to try it. We had shrimp and clams Cataplanos for 2 and it was terrific. Lots of food and great price. My husband loved it and he can be pickier as he likes what he likes...and doesn’t try new things. They take NO reservations and it is small. I would recommend getting there when they open or be prepared to wait. It is a small restaurant that seats 30 people at a time. Worth going and worth waiting!!More

Come early (5.30-6pm) and get your name on the waiting list. Be prepared to wait anyways - it’s totally worth it. Absolutely delicious food and very friendly staff.

Best meal we’ve had in Portugal and the experience was amazing. The staff absolutely love what they do and it shows. We were so excited to taste the cataplana(pork, shrimp and clams) just with our servers comments and expressions and it did not disappoint. We...even drank the sauce with a spoon. We couldn’t stop eating… that’s how good it was!More

Decided to go to this restaurant whilst having a few drinks on a Monday night, unfortunately the next free booking was the Thursday, ok it was for a party of 7 but that having to book that far in advance gave me great expectations. The...expectations were fulfilled!! It's very small quaint place, old school dining with the chef a stone throw away but it didn't bother me or my family. The waiter who attend to us was very polite and knowledgeable about the food, it seemed dad was the chef and mum and sons ran the restaurant, nothing was rushed or too much trouble. My son and I ordered the home style cataplana (prawns, clams and pork) this came for 2 people. I'm 6'4", 19 st, my teenage son is 6' and both from Yorkshire and we know how to eat, this dish wasn't just delicious filled with big prawns and juicy clams, it was cooked to perfection, but it beat us, we couldn't finish it. The rest of the family had sea bass, sea bream, steak and home style prawns. Everyone commented how lovely the food was and the portion size are huge. It's a must try if you're in Lagos but you have to book, if you need to book somewhere where there's loads of restaurants around it speaks for itself!!!More

Must book in advance to get a seat in this small family-run restaurant. The food is superb but it was unfortunate that the cataplana which looked fabulous is only available as a two-person dish. The prawn and clams was delicious as was the omelette. The...seating is quite "intimate" with anyone sitting at an adjoining table quite on top of you but the food makes it worth it. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I had forgotten my wallet and cards the first evening we dined there but the staff were perfectly willing to allow us on our way with only an assurance that we were returning for another meal later in the week as their guarantee of payment!! This was our first visit to the restaurant and to find this level of trust was an affirmation that there is still some decency out there. Highly recommendedMore

Casinha do Petisco was highly recommended by the owner of a very popular restaurant who unfortunately was unable to accommodate us as a walk in. ‘You will not be disappointed - but you’ll be lucky to get a table’. TripAdvisor gave us comfort that we...were on to a good choice - and we were certainly not disappointed after what seemed a long wait. We chose a favourite - prawn cataplana to share. Our meal certainly exceeded all expectations - excellent fresh tasty dish served by members of the very competent and friendly family. We’ve booked again in 3 days time before we leave Lagos. We’re much looking forward to our next visit. Definitely worth the wait for a table.More

This small family run restaurant in the old city is THE best place to eat in Lagos for authentic Portuguese seafood. This is a very small place so reserve a table at least a day in advance if you can. Order the Cataplana with a...bottle of vino verde. The food is amazing and the service is great. So worth it. And bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards.More

We were recommended this place by a tour guide who took us wine tasting. We read up on the restaurant and took the advice to book and pleased we did as from 7.30pm an ever increasing queue starts up. We had already had a Cataplana...earlier in our holiday and hadn't anticipated having another but on entering the restaurant seeing most tables tucking into one we had to go for it and it was definitely a good decision. We went for the Prawn, Clam and Pork version (home style) and it was fantastic with the most amazing creamy sauce, easily beating any other Cataplana / Fish Stew I have ever tasted. The table next to us had a Prawn dish which they polished off and re-booked so I've no doubt the other dishes would be equally as good as the Cataplana. The is a family run restaurant with no heirs or graces, and the tables are crammed in close together but if you like good food its a must visit.More

Couldn't count the amount of times we have visited this small family restaurant in the old town. It had been a number of years since we had been lucky enough to visit Lagos so were delighted to see the same chef in the open kitchen....The food was fabulous as always, the sea bass and steak were delicious. They accept bookings till 7pm so we managed to get a reservation but after that you have to take a chance so wasn't surprised to see the usual crowd of people waiting outside when we left. I don't know why this restaurant isn't No 1.More

We came here from a recommendation from our receptionist at our hotel. We went back again the next day despite the 1hr wait (because no reservation). We ordered the shrimp/clam Cataplana for 2 and paired it with white wine. We arrived at the restaurant with...zero expectations. We were blown away! Family owned business with the father/chef cooking all the meals. If you are in Lagos, do yourself a huge favor and come here to eat!!! You will not regret it! Delicious food, amazing vibes, and great family restaurant. Get the Cataplana!!! Sweet and savory seafood that is drenched in a cream sauce that is to die for. A mixture of prawns and clams married with onions, green/red bell peppers swimming in a sauce of perfection. It is truly something to marvel over. You will not regret coming here.More

We came to this place upon the recommendation of our receptionist. It is a small family run restaurant in a side street. Reservations are highly recommended. The staff is very friendly, there are lots of local people here as well. The menu has a large...selection of meat, fish and seafoods. We had the sirloin steak in pepper sauce which was cooked to perfection. We also had the prawns home style, which was amazing and also the sautéed pork that was lush. We are back for a second meal to round of an amazing Portugal holiday.More

They do take reservations. But they are usually booked. I recommend doing it days in advance!
