The food, service and atmosphere at Ciuccio were all good but, given the many rave reviews, we were a little disappointed as we were somehow expecting a bit more. All the food was nice, but most of us felt the mains were probably overly garlicky and too rich as if the restaurant was almost trying too hard to impress.
Also worth noting that, when the bill arrived, if we had been in, say, London we'd probably have said "that's reasonable value" but, in terms of typical Algarve / Lagos pricing, it is very much at the top end.
I stress the food, service and atmosphere were all good, and we'll certainly give this restaurant another try, but the overall experience wasn't quite as good as we had all hoped.

the only garlic i use is in the tzatziki and there it belongs by the law of the greek. anything else is with no garlic whatsoever.

Four of us walking thru Lagos looking for dining as Ciuccio was preparing to open. The owner, unbeknownst to us because she was setting tables and placing the outside menu, so we reviewed quickly as it is not large and asked about availability where we were told no seating as they were booked solid. At the last moment the owner said we could have a table for one hour. BEST one hour of food we had in 14 days traveling in Spain and Portugal. Two different pasta dishes, salad with simple but delicious dressing (she said we had to start our meal with a salad), the bread (no need for butter) was delicious. Ordering desert was not in question when you eat like we had, apple crumble, tiramisu and fresh mint ice cream, all very tasty and reasonably priced. To the owner and chef, thank you!

We showed up and it was busy. The waitress said she could give us a table until 8:30pm when it had been reserved. Instead of turning us away, she made us feel wecome, so we stayed. It's not a big place, but has a cosy atmosphere. The menu is small, but with good choices. I had the Tagliatelle Funghi e Tartufo and my husband had the Pasta Alla Norma. We had a couple of glasses of very good Merlot. We both really enjoyed our meals. I could taste thd garlic and butter mixed in with the mushrooms and it had so much flavour. My husband felt the same way about his dinner. Very tasty. The Chef came over to ask how we were enjoying our meal, and we gave him a big thumbs up. You could tell he took pride in his dishes and wanted people to have a good experience. We finished off with a delious, creamy, tiramisu. The whole evening was so pleasant because of the amazing food and wonderful service. We highlly recommend this restaurant.

The fact that this restaurant is rated 5 here is in my view hugely misleading.. Meet and seat, 6/10, starter 2/10 (Some might call it a bruschetta, most would call it expensive cheese on flat dry toast. Pasta 7/10 but had to ask for some parmesan on the side, desert N/A as we didnt risk one. They certainly likes to get people in and out fast. I don't think it's unreasonable to allow a couple of mins before collecting plates, but the order/service guy doesn't really get that from what I saw. It's a shame for two reasons, firstly it's one of the few places that looked as though it wasn't the mass tourist horror you walk through to it, secondly because it could be better in a sea of dross eateries..Kinda fits with Lagos and we've found out...

you ordered bruschetta with scarmozza which is grilled cheese on bread and a italian classic as you obviously didn’t know. bruschetta is with tomato one line above on a the menu and indicated as it is. your fault. pasta is simply the best and that you didn’t have deserts…. your shame, i mean, you missed the best. mint sorbet. anyway, doesn’t matter. some people simply want to feel miserable. mission accomplished.

The food and service were so good at this restaurant we decided to make another reservation (which was necessary as the place was packed) later in the week during our stay in Lagos. Try the bruchetta (not sure of the spelling but toast with lovely cherry tomatoes and spices), the chicken satay strips and any of the Italian pastas. You will not be disappointed. We were checked on by the lovely waitress, the owner and the second night by the chef and we are nobody special really. That is just the way they are, so friendly, even though all the tables were constantly filled and they had to turn away folks at the door without reservations. Loved this place.

As I always say, a good restaurant must convey an idea of the cuisine and one of the world. Here they succeed! The owners know how to welcome you as they welcome friends because they are a couple in love with their work, because they have traveled the world, because they know Italian cuisine and respect the importance of raw materials, because they know that food also nourishes the soul and eating in squalid places offends her. Very Italian menu (but with a Danish dessert which is a fantastic digression) perfect and at honest prices. The simple penne with pistachio pesto has a truly refreshing lemon aftertaste and is perfectly balanced by the generous and fatty flavor of the burrata that garnishes the dish! Super!!! Truly a place to eat well in Lagos whether you are Italian or want to escape from the tourist restaurants that are all around. Well done!

From start to finish, this evening exceeded our expectations. We ordered the classic bruschetta as an appetizer. As a main course we enjoyed the pasta alla Norma: A dream for every pasta lover! The aubergines were tender, the sauce wonderfully aromatic, and the pasta perfectly al dente.
The highlight was the mint sorbet at the end. A refreshing, light end and a taste I have experienced so intensely rarely. Not only the dishes, but also the service were first class – attentive, warm and with great attention to detail. A huge thank you for this fantastic evening – we will definitely be back!

I found the bruschetta strange, as it came with a sliced bread with cheese on top, as it was an Italian place, the bruschetta looked more like hot cheese from Brazil. The Burrata came cut in half instead of whole, despite having a good flavor. The cold cuts board could have come with thinner cold cuts, everything was very thick. Ultimately, it charges a lot and delivers little.

very weird.
you ordered after asking of the history of bruschetta with pointed finger on the menu for bruschetta con scarmozza which is smoked cheese and then you complain that it is cheese???
you had caprese with burrata which is homemade . nowhere in lagos ( if in portugal) you will get homemade burrata . the burrata is double the size of normal ones. that’s why is halfed to fit inside the bowl and the taste was great? why the complain?
you had handselected salami and cheese from spain and italy and you complain about the size of the cut which is generous? why didn’t you say anything at the table ?
you didn’t even order anything out of the „real“ kitchen like pasta or starters.
how do you know what we promise or deliver? you saw only happy and satisfied people in a fully booked restaurant and complain?

Honestly one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time. The truffle pasta was so good I ordered a second main course after finishing my first (and burrata to start) for the first time in my life. Desserts were home made and inventive, and the service matched the quality of the food.
Do yourself a favour and visit!

Based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, I recommended to friends on holiday that we try this restaurant. We were All disappointed and underwhelmed. I don't understand why this place is so highly rated when it lacked ambience and the seating arrangements were basic. Starters: Hummus was served with wraps cut into wedges instead of the pita bread as advertised on the menu. The serving of tortilla wraps was nowhere near sufficient.
The menu was also limited.
My pasta dish was excellent, but then, at the price charged, it should be.
Will we eat here again? No

Ciuccio was very disappointing. We had read it's reviews and had arrived for our booking with great anticipation. Very pleasant staff welcomed us to a choice of tables. We ordered wine and then our food. The starters arrived and were delicious. Then the main course arrived. My wife's pasta (penne) was not 'aldente' but way undercooked. We have eaten in many restaurants in our time and know aldente pasta. When we told the waitress (and co owner) she said it was aldente. The chef arrived and as soon as we spoke he said "ah, you are English, the English do not know how to eat pasta". So the fact he called us English, we are Scottish, irked a bit, but hayho that's life, then he proceeded to justify serving completely undercooked pasta. All very disappointing indeed. They took it away and brought us the same dish again. I don't know if he was just trying to make a point but there wasnt much difference in the two dishes. Also worth saying I had finished my pasta which was not undercooked and we waited about 15 minutes for my wife's second dish to arrive. A spoiler for the evening. We won't be back.

Here is what happened.
you were the second couple in 5 month complainig about a pasta being to al dente. both british.
I didnt come to the table to justify but to be polite and attentive. i asked if you were english and you didnt say scottish. I never said that the english dont know about pasta. i said that it might be a cultural problem. Why do you want to give a bad impression of me? that is unfair.
But sorry for that. i politely asked if i should make you a new one and you happily said yes. i cooked the pasta for about 15 minutes instead of 11 and brought you the dish personally to the table. no point to make, no explaining. 15 minutes is so overccoked that everyone who reads this would think the same.
You had to wait 15 Minutes because we dont precook the pasta as in mostly every other restaurant. That is why customers come back here so often. and shows that you actually dont know about pasta. you cant cook faster. I mean ... its somehow logical
You and your wife said that everything was perfect and you liked it. Your pasta was handmade tagliatelle with truffle. what is not to like:-)
Why a review like this when except your perception of pasta in general is quite different to how pasta should be, every other part of the evening was good if not perfect.

Cuccio really is as good a place for dinner as the high scoring reviews suggest. We had a very good experience overall, Miguel was a great server who gave good advice about drinks choices and the quality of our food, from the beetroot carpaccio and bruschetta, then gnocchi and spaghetti to the delightful and slightly surprising mint sorbet that the chef served us was superb. Book ahead, as many were turned away. Worth persevering in getting a table. A new favourite for us in Lagos.

This little Italian restaurant is a real gem. A small, cozy place with great food and atmosphere. The boss himself is in the kitchen and even greets his guests after the meal. The boss's wife serves us warmly. We definitely recommend the teriyaki salmon, it's really beautifully prepared. Thank you for the lovely evening!

Ciuccio was a delight. We were lucky enough to get the last table without a reservation. The owners greeted us and were very friendly and welcoming, run by a family I believe, mom, dad(chef) and daughter. We ordered house wine, a red and a rose which were both excellent. The cocktails we saw were beautiful and looked delicious. The food was flavorful and beautifully presented. A small menu but still difficult to pick as everything sounded so yummy. The atmosphere was modern and felt very upbeat. We have found the best restaurants in Lagos have been off the main streets. I would highly recommend Ciuccio while in Lagos, maybe make a reservation so you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

The best gnocchi I’ve had! I am always trying to find the best gnocchi and this place delivered! Fantastic meal and even better service!! Our waitress was so attentive and friendly, the chef’s appetizer was a delicious first bite, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again when we’re in Lagos!
