If ever a restaurant sticks to what it does well then this is it. Very fresh fish, grilled and served simply - that's what you get with very large portions for good measure. We visited twice in a week. No bookings and a queue outside all evening. The fish is fresh, cooked to order and the restaurant is busy and... More

I'd done my restaurant research before we headed in to explore Lagos with Adega Tipica A Forja starred on our Google map. There's nothing worse than having hunger sneak up on you, and in desperation you settle for a mediocre meal at best. So it was fortuitous that A Forja just happened to be off the little square we were... More

Tucked away in the old town, this place is a 'no longer hidden' gem. Getting a table here can be tricky, this place is popular with locals and tourists alike. The restaurant is unpretentious and many of its staff speak little English. You can see the old men and women preparing Portuguese dishes in the kitchen as you stand outside... More

I can describe everything about this place as excellent. The food is so tasty, definitely fresh fish, very well cooked and presented. We ordered grilled prawns, soup of the day, a seabass and a gilt-head bream grilled with salad, 3 different desserts, bread refill, bear and coffee at the end, and payed just 54€. We left the place with belly... More

This is a wonderful find. I was a bit lost trying to find the place but just followed the people and was able to find it. It does not seat a lot of people so there may be a wait. However, the fish is worth it! It's simple but so fresh. The clams appetizer is also beyond compare. Wow

What a superb restaurant. Busy, great atmosphere and superb food, no frills, huge portions and so reasonable. I could quite happily eat here every night!

Have been to the "blue door" many times and just love this friendly Algarvian restaurant. Family run by a team who work tirelessly to bring you fresh local seafood and incredible steaks at amazing prices. Always worth a visit but booking is essential unless you like to queue. One of our favourites in Lagos .

Not our first visit to A Forja, often referred to as the "Blue Door" you will see why when you visit. Tables are set quite closely together so be prepared to be sociable. Fish is what A Forja is renowned for, always beautifully cooked, presented in the traditional Portuguese manner with boiled potatoes and vegetables. The range of fish available... More

I loved this place as it is a simple local restaurant packed with people from the area! The food was simple but very tasty, serving a selection of meat and some seafood. I went with the specials of the day and found them great value for money! Also cheap beers too!

Whenever we are in Lagos we try to get here for the Pato with rice on Sundays. Always a favourite of mine. Others in our party have had equally enjoyable meals. Have been coming here for years (not just on Sundays!) Always good portions and excellently cooked. Necessary to book most times even in November. The restaurant is very popular... More
