It was just a last minute lunch engagement that came through, and no place available I was aware of to hold the meeting. A lady at the hotel I was staying at told me about this place, a town where she lived nearby, and I was very, very happy she directed me there. It is right on the old, historic... More

We loved this restaurant so much that we returned the next day! The food is produced with great ingredients and attention to detail. Everything in the menu was great from the delicious lamb croquettes with garlic aiolli to the creative "mille feuilles" made from thin slices of Alentejo bread, codfish and black pork prosciutto. And the desserts! A chocolate extravaganza... More

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at this small, simple place. Francis, the chef, is just amazing in her way of re-visiting local recipes: the flavours were always so balanced, but each of them very well perceivable. One dish was just heaven: presa do porco preto, cooked at the chef's judgment (I think it was a medium). Wine... More

The Good: the restaurant is very cozy with a modern decor, the menu has a mix of traditional plates with some revisited versions. The starter (mushrooms) and one of the dishes we selected (lamb) were very good. Part of the staff was extremely nice and friendly. The Bad: one of the dishes we selected, unfortunately mine, was very unsavory -... More

We stopped in for a "quick" lunch break, discovered a top class place with delicious specialties (the "foi gras" is supreme!) and an extensive, very extensive wine offering. The idea of quick dissolved... quickly. Lovely atmosphere, excellent service!

Amazing restaurante with amazing food. Service is médium, compensated by the freindlyness. Don't miss to drink wine from the region (Estremoz).

Just followed trip advisor recommendation. The food is great, we eat bacalhau and pork, and both were well done and tasty. For desert an apple ice cream. A little expensive but worth the visit!

We stopped here by chance for a quick lunch & chose the caldo verde. It was caldo verde but not your average caldo verde. Chorizo & couve in a dish and a thick, creamy potato soup poured over it. We would have loved the opportunity to return for dinner because if the rest of the food is this good then... More

We travelled over 80kms to have lunch at this place as it was recommended by a friend. The trip was well worth it. Gadanha Mercearia would have to be the best rural Portugal place I have gone to, in presentation, service and the food was exceptional. We had visitors with us from Australia and they also loved this place. Some... More
