We were recommended Rock Fort by our hotel. First up the food was excellent. All freshly prepared and stylish. The restaurant is quite small and the front of the property is more a gallery area and bar. When we arrived it was empty and we...nearly turned round and left. But we were shown to table at the back - more of a restaurant layout- and gave it a go. The lady that served us was very friendly and welcoming and told us the story of the business and its recent move from the coast. As said, the food was very good. We felt the restaurant lacked a bit of atmosphere, possibly due to it layout (it’s an old building), and the service was a little slow - even taking into account the fact that the food is all made to order. We would go again, maybe on a busier night, as the food was excellentMore

My husband termed our meal “nouvelle cuisine,” a term popular in nyc of small portions of frou frou food. We both had two glasses of wine; the pour wasn’t generous but it was a good CA red. All the small dishes were tasty (esp the...eggplant dish). The server was sweet and accommodating. I’m glad we went but I don’t know I would rush back.More

We were so lucky the concierge at our hotel suggested Rock Fort for a memorable dinner. We had the tasting menu and were lucky to get seats at the open kitchen. Every course was delicious. The entire team was friendly and professional. I’m just sorry...we couldn’t eat our way through the whole menu. If you’re in Bruges, do not miss this wonderful spot.More

Just off the canals and all the other tourists you’ll find this gem of a restaurant! Don’t be fooled by the name and the bar-like entrance, this is high quality dining! From the starters (mussels and chicken in bao buns), to the mains (basque beef,...cauliflower, and Indian lamb curry) we had a blast, accompanied by delicious wine, and when we didn’t think we could eat more, we just had to try the rhubarb tarte and yoghurt mousse for dessert! Amazing!!! Super service throughout. Highly recommended!More

A great restaurant, food was beautifully prepared and very tasty. Really liked that you could choose starters or mains to share. Liked it so much that we ate there twice, the second time we both had the Teaser menu. Lovely fresh ingredients, combined in an...interesting way. Staff were very friendly and helpful.More

Wow, what a great meal! The food menu was broad and fantastic. And an even more wine/drink menu. We had a great appetizer and mains. Everything [octopus, Iberico pork, and a fantastic (txogitxu) steak!] The one dessert we had room for which was enjoyable. There...are many places to dine in Brughes, but this is a great place for finer dining!More

3rd visit and still fantastic food and drink. Decided that we would go for the tasting menu and they were even able to tweak that as my wife can't eat shellfish. Really special dining experience not just the level of cooking but the front of...house making us feel very welcome and the care taken over a beautiful bottle 2011 chardonnay. Will definitely be back to Bruges and this restaurant is 1st on the listMore

About a decade ago, I had a truly memorable dinner here. Now I went back and, if anything, the experience was even better. In terms of decor, the front of the house has matured. Good and elegant contemporary furniture, excellent pleasant lighting, outstanding acoustics (a...major issue in too many restaurants), and sufficient privacy. Service was outstanding. Prompt, but not in your face. Friendly and helpful with both the food and the wine choices. The menu is clear and not too large, the wine list excellent and includes nearly a dozen of good options by the glass. I had two, both outstanding, especially the 2014 Bourgogne (100% Pinot Noir). Finally, the food. Contemporary global fusion without any pretense. Splendid amuse-gueules (2): a pork rilette w cornichons and roasted pepper, and a pâté of peas, mint, and crushed pistachios, served with shrimp crisps. Everything was delicious, but I want to single out the “deconstructed” croquettes crevettes, consisting of a bed of spinach, freshly cooked mini-shrimp, a creamy and airy mashed potato on top, all served in a foamy “bisque.” Spooned together, the effect was surprising and sublime, one of the most satisfying things I’ve eaten during my visit to Paris, Holland, and now Belgium. Good value, too. If you are looking for a carefully crafted, creative cuisine to top off a day in Bruges, you may want to look at Rock-Fort. Totally worth it.More

They have a good four course set menu, which has slightly larger meals than a tasting menu. The food was to a very high standard and we enjoyed the atmosphere. This is probably we’re locals eat so would suggest booking to avoid disappointment. The staff...were welcoming and friendly but some parts of the meal came slowly ( we waited 25 mins for a cold dessert while watching the kitchen and waiters clean up for the night) But all in all, a very good place to eat and drink.More

The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, ambiance was good, food was good quality but I was expecting more from it, taking into account that it is a michelin star restaurant. I was expecting more imaginative dishes, a more professional service and specially the dessert was...just a weird combination of flavors that didn't go together. The waitress was not the most smiling and welcoming person, but I can live with that. The worst thing is that she said she didn't have the time to translate one of the ingredients in English for me.More

smart casual. its quite a funky place. Clean jeans and shirt, that kind of thing - you can wear whatever you like, but most people were a little dressed up! New York style!! Enjoy.
