Just now I see the bad ratings of some other people, and it surprises me. I just got back from Cafe de Walvis (which means 'whale' by the way) and I'm very satisfied! Me and my mom had a toast with cheese, nuts and some kind of truffle sauce, and it was delicious! My dad was also very glad with... More

Sophisticated rough atmosphere, just in front of the Molenbeck tower and design center. Hipster's place, good beers and teas, but a lack of generosity and finish in the dishes.

Best goat cheese & pear salad! Nice atmosphere, & staff are really friendly & hospitable. Not my favourite brunch (egg fried in a pan w bacon or sausage - & usually they are out of croissants) but recommend for lunch, dinner or a meeting place for a juice, coffee or beer. One of my favourite places in Brussels

Nice place close to the city center. Nice lights and nice service. Very hipster for the ones that love it!

Last year I stayed in the hotel across the river from this gem and I'm still dreaming about their vegetarian lasagna. The food and beer was so spectacular. I wish I could fly back just for this place

Go for it. Simple, clean, friendly. Nice quiet atmosphere. Large choice of drinks, local microbrews, too. Very helpful staff. Many tables so no need to worry if there are any free. (One review wrongly stated they enable only card / non-cash payments. It is of course nonsense, you choose yourself.)

Very nice place with good food and original interior design. I was a bit confused, when i went to the toilet but you just have to see it on your own ;)

Cafe de Walvis is serving, daily food, means home cooked style. Portions are smallish but tasty. Price is fair. The atmosphere here is a kind of mix between urban, old, retro, and groovy. They have on regular basis some life bands, and these days it's very crowd. The large terras is very sunny a view over the canal but you... More

This friendly cafe/bar has great food - made on the premises I think - and a good selection of beer. After arriving in Brussels 4 hours late and starving, the first thing we did was go to Walvis for beer, pasta, seafood salad and chocolate moelleux - it was all delicious and made a lousy day so much better. In... More

Visited on a Sunday morning. It's a cool hip and young place. It's a quiet type of cafe. Perhaps because weather was nice outside so people opted for cafés offering outside seated service. Yet inside is minimalist and fresh. The down side is that it doesn't create that cafe feeling. Service was OK and pastries were good quality (though three... More
