Imagine, I am sixty now, and my late mother used to have drinks here in het student years. The place (19th century authenticity, and NO KITSCH!) hasn't changed one bit, just have a look at the old stones in the ancient passage leading to this food and drink hall. Love the old style waiters too, real skilled craftsmen. they serve... More

After visiting an incredibly packed Delirium Cafe, this was a welcome refuge. Hidden down a little alleyway, this was truly a remarkable place for lambics. They even have a great taster so we could try a variety. The crowd there was calm. It was like traveling back in time to the Belle Époque. We absolutely loved it.

The place is located in the very centre of Brussel, a few hundred meters from the Grande Place. They have two rooms but the one upstairs is more for special occasions. We had the local beer only. The famous Geuze which is served in a cosy and typical atmosphere. The beer was excellent. The service is professional.

I recommend having this on your itinerary when having a pub crawl in the centre of Brussels. The head waiter wore a big apron and spoke good English. I tried a bottle of Timmerman's Oude Gueuze, a traditional lambic beer for 5.60 euros and the draught lambic Faro in a ceramic jug for 5 euros. Will return.

I have been to Belgium with members of Our local Norwegian beer Club 3 times, and have been visiting A La Becasse every time. You cannot visit Belgium without having a type of Kriek, Lambic or Framboise, especially in summer. Of course you can buy those everywhere, but it's A La becasse which is the "real one", serving those, somewhat... More

Accessed via a small door between shops, the first part of the entrance looks like the entrance to a public toilet, then just past a slight bend you come across a really nice old-fashioned style pub/bar. A small plaque by the entrance details some of the history of the bar - seemingly having been own & run by the same... More

We went here to grab some good brews, and they have them! Great selection, and a lot of munchies to choose from! Much of the food options are served on cutting boards.

An unpretentious chic little place focused on unusual authentic belgian beers. You must try the Lambic Doux served in ceramic jugs. They even offer hot snacks and cheeses to go with the beers which are the main reason for you being there. Not a boozy place though! A must if you happen to be in the area.

Fabulous place, enjoyed their house brew served in stone jugs and cups. A very old-world experience and one of my favorite bars ever. The staff here are quite friendly towards guests of all nationalities.
