I once lived in Gouda some 40 years ago Kamphuisen was then called Carte Blanche. Then it was a bar which may have served food I can't remember. After eating here on Saturday I can say it has become a very nice restaurant. Old friends...took us there and we had a great time. Friendly staff really good food, I had Pheasant which was perfectly cooked not an easy thing to do! And to start a Cheese Brûlée which was divine. We had Champagne and a number of wines and I have to say the bill was very reasonable. I also spoke to the owners who were very welcoming. Highly recommendedMore

Sometimes it's all about the food, sometimes it's the venue, sometimes it's the staff. Memorable meals have an indefinable quality about them that can be hard to capture in a description and this was one such meal. We hadn't booked but having read good reviews...we thought we'd give it a try and from the moment we stepped over the threshold we had one good experience after another: the table was lovely, the barman friendly and knowledgable, the local beer excellent (so we thought we'd try them all!) and the food was very good with generous portions and and an interesting take on some classics. This is somewhere we'd happily visit regularly and had we been staying in Gouda longer we'd certainly have returned. As it was it gave us the perfect send offMore

This is a little off the beaten path, but a great find! The service, food, location, and atmosphere are superior. We had a drink sitting at a table on the sidewalk while we waited for a canal-side table to become available for dinner. Next time...we are in Gouda, this will be our go-to!More

Living in Gouda for a few years now and i should reprimand myself for not having visited this restaurant before. Although we had not booked we could were brought to an outside table right bedside the canal. White voile curtains swaying in the breeze kept...out the sun, what a sweet place for summer's dinner. Service was -maybe due to the unreal hot weather- a tiny bit slow, staff were welcoming, atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed and the food was absolutely delicious. I will to go there in winter for a dinner inside....already looking forwardMore

We had a dinner meeting here and we loved everything about it. The location, the service and the food. Keeping in mind that this is a so called 'eetcafé' (bar+restaurant) the food was really good. The wines are good and the service is both attentive...and relaxed. So, if you are looking for a nice place to have some good food consider Kamphuisen en be sure to have a stroopwafel for desert.More
