If I could give a higher ranking I would. I was in Amsterdam five days and ate here three different times. The food is unbelievable, the service is very friendly and helpful and the setting is like something out of a dream. We sat at a window overlooking a canal in a beautiful little deli and ate some of the... More

We walked by the restaurant few times, and finally Sunday we decided to go there for lunch. Really a tasty lunch! They do not have huge menu, just a show stand where you see what they offer, based on what was fresh in the market (which I like a lot!). We tried the merguez+vegetables and the veggie option, both combined... More

Visited this restaurant once before when in Amsterdam, nice veg with fish/meat combo. Thought we would revisit as it was a tasty and healthy option. Unfortunately we were served by the manager or owner, whose manners left alot to be desired. I asked for lentils on the side of my tuna and veg. The chap advised me it would not... More

Fantastic meal. The exceptionally friendly proprietor Kassimou showed great pride in his food and respect for food. Small, casual and intimate, you are invited to take your own drink from the fridge and tally up later. The menu is limited to the best food sourced that day, but at the buffet style bar where all the dishes are on display... More

Excellent food in small or large buffet selections (small is large, large is huge - both excellent value), with selections served with either cos-cous or rice. Very small place, but with canal views, friendly service and a few shelves of North African delicacies if you want to have a go at home.

This is the second time we ate here. Each time is great. Wonderful nomadic food. When you order a mezze, you get something different each time. But it is always a good surprise. They have good wine as well. The staff is very accommodating and super nice. They have 2 locations (same owners).... both times we went to the Westergasfabriek... More

I was lazy and wanted to stay in so my inn keeper host (from Decor Canal House) recommended the place. I had the pumpkin with goats cheese and the salmon in couscous which was really really good. It's a small place that sits only 10 but the take out was neatly packed in nice containers. I will go back there... More

Our first time eating Algerian food-really good! You select either cous-cous or rice; select a kind of meat (chicken, salmon, veggie) and two veggies. Portions are ample and steaming hot! We were the first table for the evening meal, so our food was heated up within 10-15 minutes. Veggies were fresh and chicken was flavorful! Overall-charming place with good food,... More

Beautiful place but bit grumpy people. We ordered couscous with two different kinds of vegetables and one meat, one fish. It was heated in the oven and without any sauce it was a bit dried out, esp the merguez. We had to ask for bread which should come automatically with a dish like this but they could not provide. With... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
