My wife wanted to try some real Dutch food so we made reservations at this very popular restaurant. There was not much good about it other than the friendliness of the wait staff. We were kept waiting at our table for 20 minutes before even getting a beer. Orders took even longer. A neighboring table were given the wrong food... More

I wanted to try the authentic Dutch delicacy so my local friend brought me here to try Stamppot. It was very delicious. The ambience of this restaurant was very cosy. Service was warm and friendly. The decoration was filled with personal mementos so it gave you a familiar feeling. Reservations is a must as this place is always pack. Will... More

The host at the place where we were staying recommended us this place. We had to wait for 45minutes to get a table but it was worth it. The place is so authentic: decorated with pictures of mums all over the walls, plates that don't match... the food was exactly what a Dutch mum would make for you, so tasty... More

Very cosy and warm place, little remainding us on local French restaurants. Delicious and rich meals, went home with full bellies and real satisfaction!

This is the perfect spot for true Dutch comfort food. I loved the warm atmosphere, welcoming staff and the endless pictures of people's mothers to look at while eating delicious food. The Hotchpotch (stampot) was excellent and I wish I could've eaten two or three helpings of the beef carpaccio. Incredible.

Be sure to make a reservation. We saw many people turned away. The staff said it happens all the time when people don't reserve.

Wow! Just wow! We never planned going here, but after a full day of walking, skating, exploring and shopping and one spare hour until we had to catch our train to the airport, we really wanted to find a place that serves traditional Dutch food. And boy, did we find it! Took out the phone, looked for Dutch restaurants on... More

I love the concept of this restaurant: the plates, glasses and cups that don't match, the many framed photographs of mothers hanging on the walls and of course the Dutch menu. The food we tasty and quick, the only reason why I didn't give full marks is because it seemed they were understaffed and the service was not as great... More

We went as a group of 10 from work as a team event. The place is amazing, it's not called "Moeders" for nothing and the walls are covered with pictures of Mothers ! The food was simple and well priced, and very good, tasty and filling for a cold night. The staff were helpful and friendly - I had dropped my phone... More

Such a cool place and individual with great food and personal service. But 100% book in advance!! The food is typical Dutch and really big portion sizes

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
