Visiting friends in Amsterdam, I was puzzled when they were all excited to bring me to an Indonesian?! restaurant. I found out why when we got there. We had 9 guests and enjoyed the Rice Table (Rijsttafel in Dutch) with drinks (the Rice Table was 31.50 euros per guest). It was a treasure trove of delightful flavors and items which... More

This was my introduction to Indonesian food and I was blown away. We had the "rijstaffel" (rice table) at Sama Sebo and the different flavours were ALL great. Normally, I find that I like most dishes when I try something new, but others I could take or leave. With Sama Sebo, I loved it all. It was new, it was... More

This is a well established Indonesian Restaurant in Amsterdam. I have been coming for may years. I come because their Satay sauce is probably the best I have ever tasted! - Though they push the 'Rice Tarvle' I do recommend you ignore this and go Alacarte. And make sure you choose any thing with Satay Sauce! - You won't be... More

We wanted to experience Indonesian Rifjsttafel while we were in Amsterdam and asked the hotel desk for a recommendation. We were directed to this establishment, which is minutes from the Rijks Museum and, we were told, one of the oldest in the city. It was extremely popular; we came early one evening in the middle of the week hoping to... More

We went to this restaurant with friends who have dined there before. It was a great experience, we ordered a 13 course meal. It was excellent, very good and a lot of food. I loved it. Great value for money, Staff really wonderful and friendly. This place is well known among locals and that tells a story!

I had not had Indonesian food for many years as you don't find it in many cities outside of Holland. We had the Nasi Goreng and the Bami Goreng, one is rice the other noodles. The taste was very varied and pleasant, service was fine and the restaurant decor was good. Definitely a good option.

Excellent meal. Excellent service. Many small portions to complete a great meal. Chicken, steak, beef, rice along with beans, etc.

Two of us wanted to share the famous Rijsttafel (rice table meal) but we weren't permitted. This information should be on the restaurants website. The food we ordered was good, but not great. Service was rushed and the manager (owner?) was a bit officious.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
