This is a great, authentic japanese restaurant. Quality of the sushi and sashimi in one of the highest i've ever had. Service can be a little slow but thats no problem because of the setup of this restaurant.

Like in many cities you have the all you can eat sushi bars and restaurants. Highly popular and often more a fast food place. This restaurant brings the sushi with care as well as other Japanese dishes like ramen etc. Its one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam and still delivers quality to a good price. In comparison not... More

You can enjoy a cosy Japanese atmosphere with a good staff, very delicate sushi and wide menu. Every thing for an acceptable price

This was a wonderful experience. I am very picky about my sushi and everything was to my liking. The atmosphere was very zen and friendly. The food was delicious and the vegetables and seafood were fresh!! The waitress was very helpful with portion ordering. Our first night of dining in Amsterdam was super!!

I don't like it when people don't welcome you when you enter their restaurant. I don't like waiting for 45 minutes before the meal is on the table. Drinks took 25. I like sushi and this was ok but certainly not great. The price was too high for the lack of interest, enthusiasm and quality of the food and the... More

Many people make nice food at home. Many people have family that can cook even better. All of us know restaurants where the food is of excellent quality. And some of us imagine that the quality of the food in heaven is absolutely unsurpassed. Until you visited Akitsu. Expect long moments of silence when you first taste the sashimi (or... More

We visited Akitsu as a recommendation as we were keen to impress a party of friends visiting from UK. Living in Amsterdam for several years now I have come to accept that terrible service, mediocre food and general lack of competence in restauranteuring is the norm here, and Akitsu was no different. The staff behaved like they simply did not... More

If you like good, tasty food served by people with manners and customer service as their priority - go somewhere else. We visited this restaurant having been recommended by a friend of a friend. A party of eight, the food took forever to arrive and then when it did, everything came at different times - some people had their main... More

Good food there. It is only 12 mins walk from Dam Square. We had sushi and avocado salad; both are very good. Looks like a family business, so feel a bit at home.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
