Aphrodite is a wonderful Greek restaurant. It is very high quality food for a reasonable price. As a tourist, it was very nice and reassuring to see that there were several locals eating here -- a mark of a great restaurant! The hostess and chef...More

I went with my family to this little great place. This is a place run by a woman and her family. She cooks, serves and probably the rest. A friend of mine had recommended this restaurant to me because of great food and nice service....More

We visited this resturant on my daughters recommendation as she had eaten there twice with a large group. The owner/waitress and from what she told us chef is a gorgeous lady who was extremely friendly who even translated the menu into written English for us....More

We ate twice in this super restaurant on our recent visit to Amsterdam. I just wish I could have brought the restaurant home with me. The owner, Loes Heemeijer, is delightful and nothing was too much trouble for her guests. The food is superb, simple...More

If this was in NYC, there would be a line out the door. In Amsterdam its a neighborhood locale where the owner and the guests all know each other. Wonderful take on Greek cuisine in a interesting area. The locale is filled with dining options...More

We have been going to the Greek Restaurant since 2011....it's probably our favorite local place in Amsterdam....although it's located in the touristy area of Leidseplein; it is just far enough away from the many restaurants that it is set apart. The interior is charming, charming,...More

On our recent visit to Amsterdam it was good to see that Aphrodite is unchanged in both the quality and value of its food, and the warmth of its welcome. We shared the mixed starter and then had some simply grilled fish and calamari. It...More

In a street full of "tourist" restaurants there is one excellent exception. Aphrodite, it has been here for more then 30 years and I have been eating here dozens of time. The reason is simple: the quality of the food is high, the price more...More

The restaurant is very dark, albeit cozy and the hostess is friendly. We ordered the mixed grill, which was very good and plenty to eat, especially meat. After the meal, we were offered cupcakes to celebrate the 2nd birthday of the hostess' dog.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring
