Absolutely fantastic bar. When they say small, they are not kidding. Its impossible to be alone in here. Within minutes you are drawn into a conversation because of the closeness of other customers. Definitely a place to visit. 8 people and it is packed so please remember this and respect that lots of other visitors want to experience this bar.... More

This place is great! The atmosphere, the beer, the juke box...and definitely the bar maid! It's a small place with plenty to look at. And if you stay long enough, you'll have to climb the stairs to get to the rest room. Good luck on the way down! Be sure to ask for a glass of Jenever! Enjoy!

The writing on the window tells you this is the smallest bar in town, so expect to be brush shoulders win everyone in the place on the way in, whilst you're drinking, and on the way out. If you're someone who values their personal space, avoid the place. You need to be friendly and patient and just enjoy it. The... More

Came in across from the other bar which served really expensive pints so we decided to explore our options. Saw this cute bar and went in, lady serving us the beer was so hospitable and nice. Asked for her recommendations and got what we asked for, a nice chill night. Come here if you want to get away from the... More

Been coming here for years. Always a welcoming smile and great service. Limited beer choice but the atmosphere and music choice playing at a reasonable level make this a great place to spend some time. Hungry? Nice pizza slices across the road which you can eat in the bar. Recommended!!

This was the place we kept coming back to whether just for shots or to sit and chill with a drink...it isn't named 'the smallest bar in Amsterdam' for no reason but all good things come in small packages! Celine the barmaid was fun and made everyone who entered feel welcome leading to a great atmosphere of chatting, laughter and... More

Love it. A tiny but very traditional bar just off Dam Square. Great beer and wines are offered in old Dutch charm. This place has real character and you could easily relax here for a few hours, especially in quieter afternoon periods.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
