Being Argentinean, I can definitely confirm this is far, very very far from Argentinean. I was very disappointed: 1) Empanadas don't even have the shape of empanadas, they're made of paprika and onions (no beef??) 2) They advertise steak and fries for 10e when you order it "it's only for lunch" but you get to know that once you sit... From start to finish, a thoroughly enjoyable meal and experience. Important to say we had some terrible eating experiences in the nearby Rembrandtplein and Utrecht Street, mainly bad expensive food with poor service. Luckily on our last night we decided to go into Agabi Santa Maria. The food was very moderately priced, a lovely selection of wines and beers. The... More

If you know anything about Mexican food or Tex-Mex you will hate this place. Totally weird tasteless just plain not right. Don't waste your time. If you have never have had Mexican food A'dam may not be the best place to try it for the first time. To each his own, I like to say about people's taste in artwork... More

I ordered spareribs. Priest 15.50u. After serving I noticed that I got 1 piece of spareribs with 3 kind of sauces. No fries Salat or anything else. The 2 cokes I ordered where old. No gas. They can't do anything about it but the restaurants neighbor is a coffeeshop. People go outside and smoke their joints while the guest are... More

No surprise, we experienced rain during our walk of Amsterdam. There is not a density of restaurants in this area like all other areas, but we were glad that we found this little place. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. The service was somewhat slow but our waitress was very friendly. We only had drinks and a small... More

We went inside to try some special menu offer but it was so small and after one hour waiting we were really disappointed about our decision to go in. It is nothing special but a poor mix of Mexican and Argentinian cuisine

All three of us enjoyed the food and atmosphere of this cosy place. Dishes were plentiful with various sauces to fit your taste or experimentation. Atmosphere was welcoming just like at home. Typical Mexican music added to the feel of this place. Service was lacking a bit in responsiveness. Overall very enjoyable place to go with friends.

Worst restaurant in Amsterdam. Complete and utter tourist trap. As an Argentinian living in the US and traveling on vacation to Amsterdam for the first time, I was excited when I saw what I initially thought was an Argentine restaurant in Amsterdam! My husband and my parents decided to try this place out, and we were lured by the special... More

Despite only having two tables to cater, there was an hour wait for our relatively simple order. Calling the ingredients sub par is an understatement; they were vile. I ordered a steak (if you can call it that), and it was, without a doubt, the worst I have ever had in my entire life. Luckily I asked for it rare... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
