Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best fries I've ever had. This place is always crowded and it's highly likely that you will have to wait in queue but it's totally worth it. The fries is freshly made in front of you and they are crunchy and come with various flavors. I tried ketchup, mayo, mustard and truffle mayo and loved every single one of them. Can't wait to go back!

We chanced upon this shop while walking down the street and was attracted by the crowd of people queuing. We ordered fries with cheese and no regrets! It was freshly fried hot and crispy and served with a generous dollop of cheese. Thumbs up!

Definitely overrated! I had high expectations given the many reviews; the fries were cold and a bit too oily (even for the fries standard), not worth the price. Probably it was just a bad day. If you are still willing to try their fries, I suggest you to ask the sauces on the side, otherwise the fries on the top will be drown in sausage leaving nothing for those at the bottom.

So, after a day of shopping, my friend wanted some fries. Never had them so I was excited. Line was short (maybe 2-3 people) given that there are no tourists in Amsterdam these days. The man at the counter kept repeating "big size" when he was asking me what portion size I wanted. Had to repeat again and again that I just wanted a medium bag. Then we were asked to line up on the other side. Guy before us was served (he had been waiting), then the fry cook puts a bag of fries on the counter, dunked in a sauce, I asked him if this was mine and he said yes. I quickly moved out of the line to make way for others, started eating my fries and realized that I had one with mayo. Went back to the counter, asked about it expecting some sort of apology or a replacement (would have settled for an apology) but was barked away saying that it was my fault that I picked up the wrong bag. 1.) Why was it the wrong bag? I was at the top of the line and they should have served me first. 2.) I asked if it was mine and was told yes, it was. This happened to my friend and 2 other people as well. Really sucks, and to think you would not mix things up given that there are so few tourists these days.

What’s not to like about fresh, crispy flavoursome chips? The sauce choices were great, chips very fresh and piping hot. Staff could be a little friendlier and less pushy but given the size of the queue for this place it’s clear to see they are very busy 99% of the time. I still don’t understand the huge hype for the chips, it is just that chips but for a stay in Amsterdam they are great for a quick bite to eat and affordable in comparison to most other good venues. The queue for this place literally goes right down the street so be prepared to wait a while :)

The famous fries were good but I would say that they do not exceed any hype... Over hyped fries and you can get simillar ones elsewhere also. The fries were just a little bit too hard to my taste. I think that quantity that they serve starts to eat up the quality and you can see that here They did taste good dont get me wrong

Very strong contender for the city's best fries, even challenging the best fries in belgium. The usual queue is nothing compared to the quality of the fries, the attention accorded to them and the astounding variety of sauces. For a snack, or a whole meal if you go for the big boy cornet, but a sure quality place - easily deserves its rating.

The long queue you see near Centraal Amsterdam Station is for this fries, specially for night time, so we tried at noon. €5,5 for the large cone , it’s huge , the fries are not that great , but the sauces were really good. Cheap fast food on the go.

I think people eat here because its right on a busy shopping street, and to get nice pictures. Fries get soggy very fast, not really worth it. Although long lines, it moves pretty quickly.

So we decided to give this place a try having heard good things and also being a bit hungry whilst in the area. On arrival there was a decent sized queue (around 8-10 people ahead) at around 13:00 on a Sunday. Despite the queue it went down pretty quickly and people were walking off with their huge cones of chips. We decided to get 2 portions, one of which was plain with the paprika salt, the other with a curry sauce and paprika salt. Truthfully there were SO many sauces probably a good 15 varieties if not more, combined with 3 flavours of salt to choose from there is bound to be a flavour for everyone. For €9 the size of the portions and the quality was bang on, the chips were great quality, crispy and incredibly moreish. I noticed the logo and thought it was strange…then I translated the name and well…it’s good to see they’ve got a sense of humour 😂

There's always a long queue for this outlet but the line moves really quickly. The small portion is HUGE - Would say though that the only thing that makes this worth trying is the amazing selection of sauces from which to choose from. The fries itself weren't all that special and by the bottom of the cone it would become a soggy mess.

Very good yes, but "the best" in all of Amsterdam.....?? Not so sure about that. I feel that the hype for their fries is the exact same crowd produced hype for Van Stapele Koekmakerij cookies. Hype begets hype. Sure, the fries at Maneken are good as are the cookies at Van Stapele, but the crowds, the lines, the droves of people- unwarranted. The fries need the sauces that are offered - if this is your first time, research the sauces online for the full description. And for sure, you're going to also want to shake on the dried seasonings that are in big shaker containers next to the pick up spot. No place to sit outside, so be prepared to stand around or have a walk with your fries. The most clever thing is the name of the place, the inspiration for the logo, the garden statue of a boy relieving himself, like a fountain - fun and inspired, very jaunty!

Follow the queue & you know that you have found the number one chips in amsterdam. Seriously chunky chips with fluffy centres & crispy out - choice of 22 different sauces. Portions are big, was outfaced by the medium size. Staff friendly despite the long queues that can occur - but worth the wait

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
