Visited late Sunday night. Only few other tables were occupied, no disturbing music, great atmosphere! It's housed in a historic former workers' union building, served by casual people, with hand-made decoration. Very Amsterdam. Food was delicious, particularly the vegetarian option was brilliant. If you are looking for a low-key quiet evening in an atmospheric square, then Kadijksplein is a nice... More

A cozy little restaurant, with low lighting and good atmosphere. Should be very good for young couples! We went there as a large group, and had a great time. The menu isn't very large, but we ordered several different mains, and without exception, every single person commented on the excellent food. For those who don't speak Dutch, an English menu... This restaurant was recommended to us by our B&B owner, and it was just around the corner. It is in an old, quaint building. The menu was not large, but it offered a good variety of typical Dutch options. It was very good! I had meatloaf with a curry gravy and dill sauce, and my husband had three-cheese manicotti, which... We were introduced to this small quaint restaurant by friends who live in Amsterdam. If on our own, we would have passed by because there is not much outward sign that there is a delightful restaurant behind the closed red door. The menu was extensive and we were given an English menu which made choosing so much easier. The choice... More

Went there as a family. Typical Dutch cafe-restaurant, plain interior in an old house, nothing fancy. The service was very friendly and warm. The food was good and they have a variety of local small brewery beers. Reasonably priced. Would we go back? - yes.

We went on recommendation of another staff get-together; and it lived up to expectation. Quaint smaller restaurant situated in a niche of Kadijksplein. We made reservations for 10, and where offered a delicious a 3 course meal; home-made and excellent flavour; a good variety of drink options; and the service was quick, friendly and un-obtrusive. Would recommend for small groups... More

Good food. Smallish menu but with a decent variety. I had wild boar in port sauce which was nice and well cooked. Friendly service and good atmosphere but very loud

Went here as it was local to our accommodation and on the recommendation of our host. The staff were very friendly, but they got my order totally wrong, so I had to wait again while my husband was enjoying his meal! I had the mushroom tagliatelle but it was rather bland. Very noisy. Don't have the table near the loos,... More

Wine and beer a good choice and the staff will recommend what to have if you wish. Locals use it with there family's so off me a... More

Heard good things from 2 different people and decided to go. It ended up being a real quality choice. The food was great and they had one beer from a local brewery that we fell in love with. I would definitely return.

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
