Went there for dinner when another restaurant reservation fell through. Great atmosphere. Nice beer selection and friendly staff. You will need a reservation unless go for late night dining. The ribs were fantastic, tender, fall off the bone with a fork. Ribs were flavorful and not fatty. The steak was perfectly prepared and seasoned. Not on the menu but my... More

This is just my sort of place to eat, there is nothing quite like it in the local surrounding area all these other little places are rubbish and charge an extortionist amount of money, when you go here you know it will be good food, which is what I care about more then prices. I had the turf and surf,... More

This place is alright but not even nearly deserving of 4+ stars. I had sirloin steak with fries - the steak was a delightful and large piece served with two delicious sauces. The fries however were the most horrendous abomination I've seen recently in a restaurant. They were despicably dry and looked like they were sitting around for quite a... More

Did the 18mile North Amsterdam bicycle trip - decided that steak was in order afterwards - was relatively early but could only get a table at the bar. Great service, great food - best dining of the Easter Weekend - went home very happy.

We visited the restaurant with a large group and everything went perfectly. Thumbs up for the staff who were very attentive. The meat was well cooked/grilled and of good quality. There are beautiful and affordable wines on the wine list. We all loved the “saté”as starter.

All three of us enjoyed our meal. I had the mixed grille which was great. Cooked through without being charred. Very tasty, would definitely order again if I ever return. We did not have one server, several people where always checking in with us to make sure we were happy. We also tried the Dutch shrimp cocktail (we are from... More

We dined here on our second night in Amsterdam. There's so many places to choose from but I had read the reviews and seen the pics and I'm so glad we choose here. It's very cosy and romantic with a lovely view of Rembrandt square. I had the prawns pil pil to start and they were so delicious. Serviced with... More

Went there for dinner last evening with my husband. He had the snails as a starter and it had a funny aftertaste. My fried mussels were average. The filet steaks were cooked well and the potatoes were yummy, but there was too much sauce on them. 85E for these items including 2 bottles of water. Just average service. I've had... More

This restaurant was close to my hotel and recommended. Given its popularity, I arrived early and still had to it at the bar. The good news is that the chairs at the bar are comfy. I came here because of the ribs and I was not dissapointed. They were wonderful! They were perfectly cooked and the serve was so large... More

On vacation with our family, De Nachtwacht was the place to go for 'real food'. Hungry and ready for a solid meat and potatoes meal, De Nachtwacht was the place to go. We had ribs and mixed grill and it was great. Ask for Amber for great service too. Really pleasant atmosphere. Plenty of steak joints in Amsterdam but this... More

Restaurant De Nachtwacht is situated on the corner of Thorbecke square and Rembrandt square. From our closed veranda you have a fantastic view on one of Amsterdam’s most lively squares: the Rembrandt square.
It is also possible to taste the 70´s and 80´s retro atmosphere at one of the lounge tables or at the bar, both figuratively (the atmosphere of our restaurant) as literally the scent and taste of our steaks on the charcoal grill.

For the best steaks you are at the right place. Our butcher from the eastside of the country preserves the high quality of the meat he delivers and our cooks prepare your steak the way you prefer.
