Had lunch here. Food was fine, nothing spectacular but not bad either! Small tables, packed with people at lunchtime so not easy to manoeuvre. None the less the food came quickly and the waitresses were pleasant

A very central located bar with food. Smelt a bit of weed on our visit which was off putting. Good waitress service and atmosphere. The shared male/female toilet is upstairs and lacking in size and privacy.

The atmosphere was pretty boring in there, it wasn't busy the staff weren't interactive or seemed happy you were in the bar. As i mentioned in the title of the review - the hype was better than the experience.

Terrible service!!! Main course came before starters When i asked waitress for starters she said she forgot to order them, this was ridiculous and to top it all i asked for coffee and she replied that i had to go to the first floor to drink coffee, but instead she offered me brandy or cognac. Although steak was nice the service... More

For quite a large restaurant in the city centre this place has a very limited offering of food which I quite expensive. I had a traditional burger and chips which was not that nice. The onions smelled like the type you get from a hotdog stand outside a football stadium and the burger it self was very dry and without... More

First we were with a company of six and had an excellent table on ground floor with a panorama on the water and station, everyone was happy with the meal. Second time, we returned with a company of three, went to the top floor to find the only free table, had a very nice house steak with pepper sauce and... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
