The food was amazing! We got the Dutch meatballs, pork tenderloin, and Apple pie. Every dish was to die for! The ambiance was cozy and intimate, and the waiter (Joris) was exceptional! Highly recommend this place for a quality meal without a ridiculously high price tag. We are planning to go back again just for the Apple pie while we're... More

Mad and infuriating service but amazing apple pie. Well worth the irritating and slow queues! We sat outside under warm blankets watching the Saturday market. Was fun!

We had to wait in line for around 25 mins to get a slice of this pie and it was well worth the wait. Buttery pastry and cinnamon apple's with a dollop of cream, so good! Me and my boyfriend ordered one slice which was definitely a sensible option as it was a large slice. The restaurant itself was small... More

Went to visit on the recommendation from the hotel we were staying at. We were not disappointed! Both of us had a sandwich which was good. It was plain to see that everyone comes here for apple pie! The place was constantly busy but staff very helpful in getting you a table. The Apple pie was delicious - would return... More

Before traveling to Amsterdam my husband found Winkel 43 as one of the highest rated, traditional Dutch restaurants so we knew we'd visit. He enjoyed his meal but I just felt let down. A lot of these reviews focus on the apple pie (which is very good! The man next to us had 2 pieces!) but I feel they fail... More

Winkel 43 is located on the Noordermarkt. It's in the heart of the Jewish quarter the ‘Jordaan’, which is known for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Because of its privileged location you'll be able to enjoy your coffee or lunch on our terrace on sunny days all year round. Winkel opens early in the morning till late at night. In the area our homemade apple pie became a general well known delicacy. Therefore tasting a slice is considered a must.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
