We were advised of that restaurant by chance but have found our new favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. The food is well presented, with a delightful variety of offering. Pricing gives good value and the server very attentive and friendly. The dining area offers a quiet oasis from the hustle bustle of Amsterdam. Had our first meal there at the end... More

Starting to understand the service culture in Holland or lack of it, if you are used to London attentive service. However this restaurant was different, service was. Attentive and friendly. The food, is "different", very fresh, light and interesting flavours. Combination of Apple and other fruit flavours in some more classically inspired dishes is very good. Definitely worth a visit...

This quaint little place was just around the corner from our hotel, and we happened upon it somewhat by accident(?) with friends. The hotel concierge had recommended a few places nearby, but my ear was not attuned to the accent, so we were not sure if this was one of his recommendations :-) All turned out great! This place was... More

We wandered the Zeedijk after being told of this area by a walking tour guide. This restaurant with its eclectic decor caught our eye and we were not disappointed. The owner/ waiter/ glass washer/ multi tasked his many roles with a warmth and friendliness. The food was delicious and the choice of wine was good. If you go there, which... More

This is a great cosy restaurant. It isn't a "drive through" location, if you go, plan the whole night, and enjoy the dinning experience. We were a group of 5 and enjoyed a full course meal, amicable staff, amazing environment, were seated at the window and enjoyed watching people from all over the world stroll by and discover the city... My friend and I wandered in and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We had the salmon and cod. Both were delicious. Service was great with just the right amount of attention. The restaurant is small but we loved the relaxed atmosphere. `i would return.

My wife and I visited here for dinner. We had the restaurant recommended to us, and I'm glad we did. We reserved a table the previous day, as it is quite a small place and looked busy. The service there is attentive without being fussy, and there's a nice atmosphere there, no doubt prompted by some of the decor, like... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
