We went there for dinner during our trip in and around Holland. We read about this place on the Lonely Planet travel guide book. We tried two different plates: cassarole meat and stewed beef. Very very good! Large portion and very typical and rustic place. The two waiters are very kind and helpfully. Very good place

We were wandering around, looking for a place for an early supper and we found this place just around a corner and down a few steps. Not much to look at from the outside - but a warm and friendly atmosphere inside with a great selection of local dishes. We had the Chicken Schnitzel and Grandma's Farmhouse - both were... More

just sat down at a canalside table in the sun on a saturday lunchtime without needing to book - maybe we were just lucky but it as exactly what we needed - sensibly priced easy food ( fries, pancakes good coffee) right in the middle of town. Service was a bit slow ( maybe a good sign - they were... More

It's all from a freezer or can, and the entire place smells like a dirty deep fryer. I have no idea why we didn't follow our instincts on this one and leave before we ordered. Want proof? The veg soup was dishwater with a few overlooked veg. The sailors dish was a plate of salt with an entire onion and... More

Good lunch spot for us after finishing the canal cruise by the Anne Frank house. Good service, good food, good price. The steps down were iffy for a grandmother but they were also willing to help.

Great Dutch style Bistro. Holds approx 30 people only. Just round the corner from Cafe Kalkhoven for great beers. You may have to reserve a table. Reasonable priced dishes but big portions. Very friendly and tactile owner. Felt like you were sitting in someone's dining room. Take cash only.

If it's fine dining you are looking for, this is not the place for you. But if you're after simple, delicious, authentic Dutch food in a warm, buzzing atmosphere, you can't do much better than this. Huge helpings of stamppot - mashed potatoes and vegetables, with some of the best meatballs I have tasted. Granny's Casserole, served with red cabbage... More

The food is simple and not worth the visit. But if you like to sing along with typical Amsterdam evergreens, this is your place. The place is owned by two Amsterdam ladies who like to whisper innuendos in your ear, but who yet succeed in creating an atmosphere which you can think appealing. The place is very popular with young... More

We came for a dinner here the other night. The main took an hour and a half to come out. It wasnt all that busy even. When we ordered pudding (literally just sorbet) it took another hour. The food was nice but I can't recommend it with such poor service. It was neither busy or understaffed. The waiter was rolling... More

The place to get your tasty Dutch fix! I've had a vegetable soup with garlic bread (fresh loaf with garlic butter), my boyfriend the traditional stamppot (mash potatoes with cabbage, carrots and smoked sausage). The interior was cute and interesting, but locals seemed unfriendly. I would still go there to eat thou!
