They are not particularly friendly and they are pretty expensive. Old style Japanese restaurant, small portions, beautifully prepared in general. I just want better and friendlier service.

We arrived around 19:45 for dinner. Got seats and ordered one Okonomiyaki, one Ramen, one beer, and one glass of water. We got the water and beer by 20:00. After 20:30 we asked why the food is not coming. We got an apology and some edamame (to ensure we do not starve). By 20:45 we asked again about the food... More

Brilliant food, such a kind staff, and a generally lovely atmosphere. Top marks for Issa! Staff even talks Japanese! It's wonderful to go there. If you ask, you can easily get information about the anime and cosplay community too.

Absolutely delicious. Great menu with authentic as well as unique Japanese dishes. Very friendly staff, though a little over run by number of diners due to recent popularity (new chef?). Food freshly made to order in timely fashion. Clean and fashionable little restaurant. Make sure you reserve a seat and make sure you dine here. PS reasonably priced IMHO.

Unbelievably good. Best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan. In fact I just had one of the most interesting and tastiest meals I have ever eaten...and I'm a foodie! !!

Delicious sushi - fresh ingredients and interesting flavours! My favourite was the kampyou maki. Very well priced also. Will visit their restaurant next door soon! They have some tables outside now and the menu looks interesting!

I've been coming here for years and this is still my go to for Japanese when I'm in Amsterdam. Recommended are the agedashi nasu, uzura, shiitake with garlic and the negiyaki with bacon. All the sushi is excellent. Service can be a little slow, but just chill and enjoy.

I have eaten at ISSA on a few occassions, and returned because of the great sushi . This time around, I thought I'd try the other menu options, and tried the delivery service on a wet and lazy Sunday evening. The sushi was still good, but the ramen and donburi options were not great at all given the price paid.... More

This bright lit restaurant has good food at fair price. There is just nothing fancy about the place. It's cut down to the basics with Dutch waitresses who really don't know much about what's on the menu. Does it matter? If you go for an excellent sashimi plate and don't care who serves it... No. If you want to impress... More
