Reviewed yesterday NEW

Have been here twice now, once as a couple and once with a group. Both times the food and service were very good. Everyone agreed that we got Excellent quality steaks. Two people split the whole spatchcock chicken and again thought it was fantastic. Saw great burgers arrive at other tables too. Will definitely go back.

The place looked nice from outside so I read the TA reviews and decided to eat dinner here. I was disappointed. My medallions (Argentinian beef) were nothing special and rather highly priced, 16 euros no side dishes. I ordered a mixed salad for 4.50. It was brought with no dressing when I had almost finished my steak. Then I had... More

A good place for steaks. Service is good, fast and friendly, definitely worth a visit. However, the portion is not big and the sides are ordered separately. Everything is good and cooked to perfection.

Located just off of Dam Square. We grabbed a table outside for dinner. The menu is full of veggie options and we liked how you could choose between small and large portion sizes. We split the following: side of corn, mushroom croquettes, small eggplant lasagne, and small beetroot and goat cheese salad. The salad was packed full of veggies -... More

My friend and I had dinner here and had two different experiences. I opted for two of the "small plates" - the pork tempura and the mussels - which were fantastic. My friend got the steak sandwich, which was yummy but not at all worth 15 euros. It was a very small sandwich, with no sides included. I'm not sure... More

Cau was a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience....do order the steak! I didn't and I had severe food envy as they looked absolutely delicious! That said my own meal was excellent however why I chose not to have steak in a steak restaurant is beyond me!

Great place to go for steak. Food is a bit pricey, however it was delicious and the quality was great. Service was very good as well.

As usual, on our annual visit to Amsterdam, we lunched at Cau and we're delighted to find that it was as good as ever. Recognised by some of the staff, which is always nice. Friendly atmosphere and good food, what more can you ask?

Cau is the best beef restaurant I've been to in Amsterdam. We, a group of friends visiting Amsterdam last weekend, both had lunch and dinner at the restaurant. Both of the meals are recomended!

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
