Good food, and not just typically Dutch. Very helpful and patient staff. The restaurant is very hospitable, but has few tables; reservation is recommended. The place is clean.

My Honeybee and me dined here after strolling around trying to find mussels. She had the fish stew with mussels; I had a curried lentil soup and we split a snack plate. It was Oh So Devine! The lovely girl that sat us thought I...More

A very enjoyable evening, with friendly staff and some pretty decent Dutch specialties. The wine list is a bit short and the menu is a bit restrictive, but the quality of the food is great.

Went here over a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Visited again and found an almost completely new menu. However, my wife noticed that the chef was the same. The waitress told us the place was under new ownership. We ordered mains, canneloni and...More

Having last visited in 2014, it is always a risk going back somewhere after a long period away in case of disappointment. The same vibe remains and although it feels slightly less 'edgy' it is still a world away from most nearby offerings. The food...More

Limited but delicious menu. Antipasti and Dutch snacks very good as starters. Lamb skewers and Dutch fish stew were excellent. Unfussy, unpretentious and laid back - feels like a truly local restaurant. Well recommended!

Quite romantic: quiet, candle light, even the music was nice and soft. The food wasn't bad. Portions were a bit small. But there was no one here.? On a Saturday night at 22:00.

I went there with my family on holiday as it looked interesting. They had a limited but interesting menu with a couple of Indonesian selections. Everyone thought their food was good and the wait staff was friendly (in the Dutch manner - if you don't...More

Description
Szmulewicz is since 1990 a small, informal, cosy restaurant (with terrace) in the centre of Amsterdam, near Rembrandtplein. The name suggests a Polish kitchen, but the chefs have different nationalities, and are inspired by the international (Mediterranean) kitchen. Dutch dishes are also being served. We all speak English, and some of us speak French and German as well. Since the place is frequently visited by locals, please make a reservation!
