Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a perfect meal with such kind, attentive service. We sat in the garden area, and enjoyed the very best bistecca alla fiorentina (you will find it here, trust me), with oven potatoes and a salad. Thank you for the champagne, the bottle of wine...to take, and for such attention to detail. Grazie mille.More

This is an exceptional place. Not flashy but well worth the effort to get there (about 15 minutes walk from Duomo). The people are charming and our host ARTIN was exceptional, as was the food. The cooking is amazing - refined and very, very, tasty....We had a fantastic evening and this was without question our best foodie experience in Florence.More

Great steak, great pasta, great wine, great dessert. Our waiter was the best. Off the beaten path, but the place was packed. This place is special.

The interior is very beautiful, neat and tastefully created. (One of the best in Florence arguably). The food and menu was reflection of Tuscan delicacy. We ordered Crostini and different pasta and both of them were superb. The staff is very friendly and patient. I...would recommend it for family lunches and dinners.More

This was the best steak I’ve ever had. The service was impeccable. I hardly looked at the menu. The waiter was such a professional he walked us through the whole experience. I 100% recommend this place. Small, intimate and simply lovely.

This was a charming restaurant off the beaten path. We ate in the garden area, which was a covered warm cozy room. Jennifer, our waitress was friendly and delightful. My son and I started our meal with tagliolini with mushrooms and wonderful sauce. I wish...I could be more descriptive, but it was absolutely delicious. We continued with our Tbone steak cooked rare as order with tasty potatoes . They make their own pie, which we enjoyed tremendously – a Chanti. I may have mentioned we were celebrating our birthdays and we left with a fabulous bottle of their wine as a parting gift. My son and I had a great celebration.More

There’s nothing quite like a meal that puts a smile on your face and a sambuca on your lunch bill. I have loved Vecchio Cancello II since I first ate there and today decided to try Vecchio Cancello I, the original. Neither are in the...center of town, but both are 100% worth finding your way to! The most noticeable similarity is how totally accommodating the staff is! Both places! Both places noted that I wanted water but did not want a whole liter of it, and both waiters courteously poured me a glass for my pleasure. Free! And both had the best freshest salad in the world, with fabulous pecorino, olives, and ridiculously desirable carrot strips. Both served a house red that they are deservedly proud of. The second Cancello is prettier, but the first one made me happy with an extravagant dish of lamb chops and roast potatoes, not to mention a sambuca (free!) that beat espresso for the finale. And they even gave me a doggie bag since I could not finish this all ! Unheard of in Italy! People, damn, life can be so good!More

This restaurant seems to have one dish worth coming for, which is the steak. We didn’t have that - and as a result the food we did have was bland and not especially well cooked. The aubergine was undercooked as was the risotto. The house...wine was pretty rough and overpriced. I also found the staff quite curt. We were given a free bottle of the house wine as we left - it would have been fairer to just charge a reasonable price for the wine in the first place! I really can’t understand how this very average restaurant has got so many good reviews.More

The wild boar was interesting to try. The steak is worth the trip alone. They even gave us a bottle of wine when we left. Super friendly staff.

I highly recommend this trattoria. The service was exemplary. The house red wine is excellent with the many different meats. Try a glass first. The warm egg, pecorino, bacon and truffle starter is superb. If you try anything try this starter. There is a lot...so better to share it if you dare. The selection of bruschetta is a great introduction to this food. The warm liver pate is some of the finest I have eaten. The leek risotto is exceptional. The stuffed rabbit main easily serves two. Two starters, two mains, three glasses of wine , bottled water and coffee 98 Euros. This is serious good value food. The staff will happily talk you through the food and wine choices. Really relaxed but very professional. I highly suggest you book. I noted they brought weighing scales to the table for folk ordering the steak. This trattoria is about 20 mins walk from the tourist central area of Florence. You will need the walk there and back because the food is that good.More

Simply excellent. If you only stay in Florence one night, eat dinner here. If you are in Florence more than one night, eat dinner here more than once. I had beef slices with mashed potatoes. The beef just melted in my mouth, the only problem...was there was too much of it, and I couldn’t finish it all. :) My partner had Risoto with pistachio. We have been in Rome, Pisa, Venice and Florence on this trip. This was the best food we have had. Thank you.More

Lovely food and lovely atmosphere! We didn't have a reservation but they managed to fit us anyway. I was delighted with my "Cinghiale del cacciatore". The flavours were great and the meat was lovely and tender. We saw a couple of other dishes going past...that looked fantastic as well! As we left, they gave us a bottle of wine to take away from their family vineyard in Vici. All in all a wonderful evening in a lovely setting.More

I think from all the 5 star reviews you can see how great this restaurant is. We gave it 5 last year and have just returned from Wales and here another 5 stars. Next time you are in Florence, it is a little way from...the centre, but it is certainly worth finding. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere..and great limoncello! Until the next time..grazie mille.,More

Sorry I’m just seeing this now. They do speak some English- I would call them and ask. They are a small local restaurant and I doubt they have much of an internet presence.
